Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson Officially Proclaims Women's Entrepreneurship Day to be November 19, 2022

Joining the Global Movement

Elkhart is making history with the recognition of Women's Entrepreneurship Day!

Elkhart, IN, November 27, 2022 - C2 Your Health Women's Initiative Inc. requested the Mayor and City of Elkhart to proclaim November 19th as Women's Entrepreneurship Day to increase awareness of the contribution's women entrepreneurs in Elkhart are making and encourage their citizens to buy women owned. The Mayor of Elkhart Rod Roberson, and the City of Elkhart, Indiana signed the proclamation November 15th making history by joining the global movement for the 1st time ever proclaiming November 19, 2022, as Women's Entrepreneurship Day.


By proclaiming Women's Entrepreneurship Day, the City of Elkhart acknowledges the observance of Women's Entrepreneurship Day to support women in business by encouraging women leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs to uninitiate business start-ups, and support current women owned businesses who are typically excluded, women and communities of color to drive economic expansion and elevate poverty.


"I challenge our communities to support, when possible, women entrepreneurs making shopping purchases online and off-line, donating to organizations that help women business owners, hire women-owned service providers, and consultants not just on Women's Entrepreneurship Day, but every day." says Cindy Cohen Founder, C2 Your Health Women's Initiative Inc.


In 2012 the U.S. Census reported women-owned business consisted of 3% in Elkhart County. According to the most recent United States Census reported July 2021 women-owned businesses in Elkhart County consisted of 8% of all businesses, (417) total.


The U.S. Chamber of Commerce reported since the onset of the (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020 women entrepreneur, women-owned and women of color small businesses were hardest hit nationally with 25% closures nationally and the economic impact on Elkhart is no exception.

"We are excited to join Mayor Rod Roberson and Elkhart County in supporting women-owned and women entrepreneur small businesses."


Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is the largest initiative in the world to promote entrepreneurship and financial development of women, which is celebrated in 144 countries. The initial Women Entrepreneurship Day initiative was launched by Wendy DiamondCEO & Founder of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, the author of best sellers, TV star in the United States. Thanks to her commitment, November 19 was declared the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) and was celebrated for the first time in 2014 at the United Nations headquarters in New York. However, the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day initiative is not just one day a year, but a global social movement promoting entrepreneurship among women.
