Greetings Tucson NAWIC #122 and Friends!

Happy New Year, 2023!! I hope everyone is in good health and feeling rejuvenated after the holidays. We finally made it to 2023!!

Reflections of January/December/November

NAWIC’s Annual Night at the Gaslight Theatre. It was once again a sold-out event. Thank you to Florence Bramlett and Jamie Thrush for putting together a great event. $1,500 was raised at this event from the 50/50.

NAWIC’s December Social at Ansty Nancy. Was well-attended and a ton of fun. We all got to participate with each other for a night of team building while making delightfully delicious appetizers, including a fun Holiday drink and snacks! This may have potential to revisit. What do you think ladies?

January Membership Meeting. Our guest speaker was Jennifer Hagar, of Sandbrook Group. Jennifer enlightened all of us about the ins and outs of group and individual insurance available to us as employers/employees and self-pay individuals seeking insurance coverage for ourselves and our loved ones.

Looking Forward

Hope to see everyone and their invited executives at our Annual Executive Breakfast on February 15th. (If you haven’t invited your executive yet, GET ON IT!) The event will include a delicious breakfast followed by a tour of the Connie Hillman Family Foundation Urban Construction Knowledge Center (Chuck). We will also be announcing and awarding the WIC Winner! (See details and registration below).

Do not forget, Women in Construction Week (WIC Week) is March 5-11, 2023.
- A tour of the Ideal Institute
- WIC Week Happy Hour
- Habitat for Humanity volunteer day
More details are coming soon.

Connie Hillman Family Foundation Urban Construction Knowledge Center (CHUCK)
Invite your Executives!
Each year the NAWIC Tucson Chapter Members invite their executives to attend the Annual Executive Breakfast. This year the breakfast will include a tour of the new Connie Hillman Family Foundation Urban Construction Knowledge Center (CHUCK). Habitat for Humanity Tucson's CEO, Charlie Buchanan, and their Chief Production, Jeff Ocampo, will discuss Habitat Tucson's newest Workforce Development Center focusing on solutions to two of the most pressing issues facing Arizona, the lack of affordable housing and a growing need for skilled workforce in the trades. The CHUCK will bring together local industries, educational institutions, expert volunteers, and strong financial support that will allow Habitat Tucson to offer a "hand up" to more families, lifting them out of generational poverty. Learn how CHUCK will serve as Habitat Tucson's construction hub, warehouse, and training center, complete with a tour. The CHUCK will provide job training, intern & volunteer opportunities with real-world experience building affordable housing. The facility is a 15,000 sqft warehouse, classroom, and office space.

Meet our Sponsor:
Marnie Prince, the owner of Junk King Tucson, enjoys serving the people of Pima County with dependable junk removal services. Following her career in banking and finance, Marnie developed a “passion for junk” in 2018. Her interest in helping people and the environment was the driving force in her successful shift to a career in junk removal management.

She began pursuing business ownership with Junk King, after two years of working with a Portland junk removal service. Prince brings to Tucson experience, knowledge and dedication to eco-friendly solutions. She considers her work fun because every day is a new and different exciting adventure.

Big THANK YOU to our sponsor, Marnie Prince with Junk King!

Annual December Social
WHAT A FUN NIGHT!
The Chapter held it's Annual December Social at Antsy Nancy. We celebrated with Holiday Appetizers with Cocktail Demonstration and Tasting. The group worked in teams to make each appetizer before placing it on our holiday-decorated buffet.

The chapter also made a generous donation to the Tucson Diaper Bank.

We had a contest for the most festive holiday duds to win a $50 fit card.
The winner was Brittney Leith!
