“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.”
(I Cor 3:6-7)
On October 10 we began our annual Pledge Campaign. Taking inspiration from St. Paul's words to the early church at Corinth, our theme this year is “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave growth.” (I Cor. 3:6-7). Fourteen years ago, a small group of faithful servants planted St. Benedict's. Over the years, the parishioners of St. Benedict's have faithfully watered so that God could bless and grow our parish. Now is the season for us, as current parishioners, to continue this watering and partner with God as we grow into our next season together as a community. Over the next 5 weeks, please prayerfully consider a financial pledge for St. Benedict's in 2022, as well as the other resources of time and treasure you will offer to God in this place. To make your pledge, please use the button below.

Names of the Faithful Departed for All Saints' Sunday
|
|
As part of St. Benedict's observance of the Feast of All Saints, the names of the faithful departed will be read aloud during the services. The list of names will include those parishioners who have died, those people who have been buried through St. Benedict's, and those in our extended parish family who have died since last year’s remembrance. If you wish to add a name of someone who has died recently or one whose death has a special significance for you, please fill out the google form below, or send parish administrator Monty Johnson an email or leave a voice mail at 678.279.4302, no later than 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 4 (this is a firm deadline and cannot be extended). The names will be listed in the Saturday worship email on November 6, carried on a banner on November 7, and will be prayed aloud during worship services on November 7.

Smyrna Needs FRUIT!
What a weird but descriptive headline...
|
|
This Saturday morning River City Church is hosting a Love Smyrna community fair. St. B's folks can help in two ways:
- Donate fresh fruit PRODUCE: apples, bananas, oranges, etc. to feed hungry folks, and bring them to Chris Wiley in the St. B's parking lot on Friday 11/5 between 5 and 6 pm OR Thursday 11/4 drop them at the church office between 11 am and 5 pm.
- If you want to help hand out clothes to Smyrna families who need them, show up at River City Church at 8 am on Saturday, 11/6.
There is tremendous need in Smyrna and we have the chance to help support a fantastic ministry in an easy, tangible way.

St. B's needs lectors (readers) and intercessors (lead the prayers of the people) on Sunday mornings. It's so important that the assembly hears God's word read by people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, voices... reflecting the diversity of the body of Christ. This is a great ministry for folks looking to get more involved! Email Saralee Parker with any questions.

Now that we are back in church for services please start wearing you name tag. If you don't have a name tag please contact Monty at monty@mysaintb.org to request a new one. Wearing name tags really is a help for Mo. Jenna and for each of us as we welcome new parishioners and visitors and maybe refresh our memories on old friends.

Be a part of making the nave beautiful for online worship. The Flower Guild is looking for volunteers to help with arranging flowers for the nave every week. If interested, contact Beth Tyler.

St. Benedict's is committed to the various care needs of its member families. A dedicated group of volunteers are continuing to offer their time to serve our church community within various pastoral care capacities, including prayer requests, transportation, meal delivery, Eucharistic visits with Diocesan-approved safe protocols, and more. Mo. Jenna is also readily available for prayers, calls and/or visits for those in need.
Do not hesitate to reach out to Kerry Thomas or Anna Best about Pastoral care needs for yourself, your family, or your friends. We are here to help and serve!
