The SFX school community honored All Souls' Day with a prayer service in the Mexican tradition of Dia de Muertos. The "Ofrenda" of Altar, contained pictures, names of the departed, flowers, candles & sweet treats to remind us that it is not a sad time, but a time for remembering and rejoicing.

Congratulations to the winners of the Dia de Muertos Spanish Class Project:

Charlie Edmonds, Kyla Ciezczak, Molly Ellis, Nelly Herrera, Audrey McCormick, Emily Culin, Clare Olson, Gabrielle Gergits, William Fekrat, Ellie Fleishmann, Tess Holmes, Liliana Cerruti, Winona Waite and Abby Fijal.
SFX EXTENDED SCHOOL PROGRAM UPDATE
Dear SFX Parents,

As many of you are aware, we started the 2021 school year without our extended day (before and after school) program. An email sent to SFX parents on October 14th explained that, due to the inability of the La Grange Park District to meet our needs this year, we are moving in a different direction with another company. Members of the School Advisory Board did a search for companies that could meet our needs. The school and parish leadership then met with the company we chose to be sure that they could align with our needs and offer a safe and positive extended day program for our families.

The company has stated that they will be able to staff our program with trained personnel in a matter of weeks. We are now in the process of developing an agreement with the selected company and the Archdiocese legal team. We expect to have some information to share about implementation of this program within the week, and hope to begin implementation by the end of November. We appreciate everyone’s patience during this unprecedented time. We truly realize this has been an inconvenience for many of our parents. We are looking forward to sharing more information and welcoming this new program to SFX.

Be Well and God Bless,

Sharon Garcia
2022-2023 REGISTRATION INFORMATION

A link to the online 2022-2023 re-registration form for students currently in grades PS3 – 7th grade was emailed to families yesterday. There is also a link on the school website at sfxlg.org/school

Please complete and submit 1 form for each of your students currently in grades PS3-7th no later than Friday, November 19th. A $75 per student nonrefundable re-registration fee will be charged to all families’ FACTS accounts in the first two weeks of February. If you are a current school family and have a child ready to enter Saint Francis Xavier for the first time next year, please request a New Student Enrollment Form by completing the appropriate questions on the online re-registration form. New student hard copy enrollment forms will be sent home beginning Monday, November 9th and we ask that they be returned with original birth and baptismal certificates by Friday, November 19th. to look a little different, but service will remain at the heart of our school.

Stay tuned for the the upcoming Service Day Newsletter with more information and lots of family service opportunities!

The theme of SFX 5th Grade Service is Veterans and Active Duty Service Members.

5th graders are asking for your assistance with the following:

  • 5th Grade Service is seeking names and addresses of active duty service members and veterans. These can be family members and friends of our school families. As part of our service program, 5th graders will create care packages to send to them. Please email the names and addresses to sfxlgmain@sfxlg.org with "5th Grade Service" in the subject line.

  • 5th Grade Service is also asking families to donate their unwanted Halloween candy. Please send candy donations to school November 1st through November 5th. Candy will be sent to active service members and veterans.

  • The 5th Grade class is honoring veterans and active service men and women by building a brick wall at SFX. Students in grades 1-8 received red paper bricks on Friday, October 29th. Each student was asked to write a dedication on their brick and return it to school no later than Monday, November 8th. Dedications can be the names of family, friends, or neighbors who have served in the military. Students are also asked to donate $1 for the 5th grade to collect and give to a nonprofit military organization. Donations are appreciated but not required. We are hoping for 100% participation.  Students who return their brick will be able to participate in a partial dress down day wearing a red, white, or blue top with uniform bottom on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11th.

Thank you for the many parents who have used Click & Clap again this year to let an individual Teacher, Staff Member or Administrative Team Member know that they are appreciated! Your words of encouragement mean so much!

Click & Clap is our year-round positive recognition program allowing families to acknowledge special moments, and thank a SFX Faculty or Staff member for something they have done that has left a positive impression on your child or on your family in a special way. Click & Claps are shared with the named faculty or staff member by Mrs. Garcia.

A “SWEET” way to support the Teen Mission Trip – Order your Kringle Danish by Nov. 8th

The teens will be taking orders for O&H Kringle danishes to help make your Thanksgiving extra delicious. Each Kringle is made in Racine, WI and takes 3 full days to make, resulting in 36 layers of a flaky pastry filled with scratch made ingredients. Choose from 11 different, tasty flavors. Consider purchasing an extra one to donate to the Food Pantry for Thanksgiving. All orders can be picked up on Sunday, Nov. 21st, from noon - 3pm at God’s Garage at St. Francis. We can make arrangements if this pick-up time doesn't work for you. Each Kringle is $16. The teens thank you for your support. All proceeds go towards reducing the overall costs associated with the mission trip.
