CSU Pueblo Researcher’s Work Selected for Inclusion in Continuing Medical Education Program

"A recent article published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine by CSU Pueblo professor, Brad Gilbreath, PhD, and Cynthia Mathieu, PhD, at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières has been chosen for inclusion in the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program. This prestigious recognition highlights the significance of their research and its potential to make a positive impact on healthcare practices...

“CSU Pueblo faculty are among the best in Colorado and are recognized across the United States for their groundbreaking research, scholarship, and creative activity. Professor Gilbreath’s research makes an impact in the classroom and across industry, but more importantly, it is a timely and meaningful topic for any employer today,” said CSU Pueblo President, Timothy Mottet.

Professor Gilbreath was recently recognized for “Excellence in Teaching” by the CSU System Board of Governors at the February 2023 Board meeting in Pueblo.

This recognition by the CME program highlights the significance of Dr. Gilbreath and Dr. Mathieu’s research in the field of occupational health and safety. Their work has the potential to help health professionals and employers better understand how to create healthier and more productive workplaces."

TUESDAY: Would This Be a Fundamental Alteration? Practical Guidance For Working with Students and Faculty

On behalf of Disability Resource & Support Center and Title V HSI Grants

Although some accommodation requests are fairly routine to consider, other requests could fundamentally alter the course, program, or activity, and therefore may not be an appropriate accommodation to implement. How can we make that determination and feel sure about our decision? This workshop will guide practitioners through scenarios that frequently arise in this work, including requests for remote attendance, extra time on skills-based or lab exams, and flexible deadlines. The presenters will provide a framework for consulting with faculty, eliciting necessary information from students and establishing a sound process for evaluating the request and when necessary, determining if it constitutes a fundamental alteration.

TUESDAY: Philosophy Forum: Virtual Talk and Q&A on Moral Philosophy

On behalf of Philosophy and Religious Studies Program

What is the relationship between truth and morality? Find out from Professor J. Spencer Atkins, a published expert on ethics, social epistemology, and environmental philosophy. He will be introducing, clarifying, and motivating the concept of moral encroachment, a concept that suggests ‘what we know’ is bound up with what we believe is morally right. Come join this fascinating discussion that bears on so many debates we have today, from “alternative facts” to “wokeness.”

And did I mention there is pizza? From 5-5:30, there will be a reception where you can eat pizza and learn more about the Philosophy and Religious Studies program, our courses, and our minor. Professor Atkins' talk will start at 5:30.

NEW: Spring '23 CU Boulder AI Colloquium Series (3 Sessions)

On behalf of CU Boulder

Sponsored by the Boulder Faculty Assembly and the Office of Academic Affairs, hosted by the CU Boulder Center for Teaching and Learning

Given the explosion of interest in AI both within and outside academia, the Boulder faculty will be holding a series of colloquia this spring. Invited faculty will give informal presentations and engage in open discussions of topics related to classroom uses (and abuses) of software such as ChatGPT, but topics are not limited to pedagogy, and we imagine presentations focused on faculty research areas, as well, for example, questions in philosophy, computer science, religious studies, and the arts.
