Please join us in congratulating DC CFAR Women and HIV Scientific Interest Group (SIG) co-lead Dr. Rachel Scott (GU) who was recently awarded two new National Institutes of Health (NIH) awards. The first is an R34 from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) entitled "Socio-Structural Intervention to Improve Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Services for Cisgender Women (CGW) (PrEP-CGW)". This study builds from the Project Shikamana led by DC CFAR SBS Core Sr. Scientist Dr. Deanna Kerrigan (GW) and plans to adapt the approach to "address the culturally-specific, socio-structural barriers to HIV prevention specific to US Black, reproductive-age Cisgender Women". The second is an R21 from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) entitled "Optimization of HIV Prevention in Pregnancy and Postpartum: Population Pharmacokinetic Modeling and Clinical Trial Simulation". This study aims to use population pharmacokinetic modeling and clinical trial simulation to evaluate the dosing of both F/TDF and F/TAF for PrEP in pregnancy.
