VITA Tax Season 2023 - Sign-up Happening Now!

Our Interest Form has been open for a little over two weeks now, and we already have more than 60 volunteers signed on for next season. If you're one of those 60, thank you! If not, please take a quick moment to sign up now!

If you have questions during the registration process, contact the VITA team ([email protected]) for assistance.

Orientation Sessions Start Next Week!

We recommend that anyone who is volunteering with our program for the first time attend an Orientation session. These sessions will provide all the information you need to decide which of our many opportunities is the best fit for you!

If you'd like to sign up for an upcoming Orientation session, visit this link. You are welcome to join in person at the United Way offices, or virtually via Zoom. We can't wait to see some of you at our first session on Tuesday, October 11th from 1:00-2:30pm!

Important Update - New Ticketing System

We are implementing a brand new ticketing system to help us better serve and communicate with both our volunteers, and the hundreds of clients we hear from during tax season.

Going forward, please send ALL questions and other communications to [email protected]. This will help our team to ensure that your concerns are addressed quickly and efficiently!

Help Spread the Word

Have a friend or coworker you think might be interested in volunteering with VITA? Help us grow our impact by telling them to visit unitedwaytucson.org/vita/volunteer to learn more and sign up!

Let them know to mention your name when completing the interest form, and you might be recognized at our Appreciation Event!

Income Tax 101 Presentations

Interested in using your tax knowledge during the off-season? United Way nonprofit partners often request Income Tax 101 presentations for participants in their financial education, workforce, and housing programs.

We have slides and materials available, but we are always looking for volunteers to help us deliver the presentations.

Feel free to complete this form to receive the Income Tax 101 orientation recording and more information.

The 23rd Annual Days of Caring

Friday, October 21st & Saturday, October 22nd

Days of Caring brings together thousands of volunteers just like you to roll up their sleeves and make a positive impact in our community, one project at a time! Choose from more than 100 projects to find the best fit for you, including:

  • Planting trees
  • Cleaning up neighborhoods and parks
  • Assisting local schools
  • Preparing emergency food boxes
  • Helping in a community garden and many more!

No experience is necessary. We are stronger UNITED.

In 2021, we continued to face COVID-19 challenges. However, more than 2,540 volunteers completed 113 projects in our community, resulting in 7,600 volunteer hours!

Volunteer registration closes October 17th!

United Way of Tucson Updates

United Way of Tucson is working to build a thriving community by uniting people, ideas, and resources. We envision a community where every child receives a high-quality education from birth to career, every adult has the opportunity to thrive financially and in the workplace, and every older person can retire and age with dignity and independence. From birth to career, career to retirement, and retirement to end of life, United Way supports the well-being and success of every person in Southern Arizona.

What is Financial Wellness at United Way?

The Connecting Tucson with Jamie podcast recently hosted members of the United Way team. In the episode, hear Senior Director of Financial Wellness Initiatives, Lisa Floran, and Vice President of Philanthropy, Jeff Petrovic, speak about what brought them to United Way, collective impact efforts, how different initiatives fit into our Financial Wellness framework, and opportunities to get involved. Give it a listen if you want to learn more about United Way's vision for financial wellness!
