Throughout the Week
Our Sunday services are available for viewing following the conclusion of worship and throughout the week at www.bit.ly/fpcvideos.

Worship and sermon podcasts are available via iTunes and Spotify, and you can sign up to receive the text of the weekly sermon by email.
The First Tuesday Book Club, hosted by the Adult Education Committee, will be gathering for a small in-person discussion on Tuesday, July 6.

The topic of conversation will be Grateful: The Subversive Power of Giving Thanks by Barbara Butler Bass.

Jim Garner will lead us in a closer look at Bass’s book, in which she explores the “gratitude gap” that we can feel when private thanks and feelings of gratitude seem disconnected from our larger concerns in life. Through the author’s trademark blend of historical research, spiritual insights, and timely cultural observation, we are led to see how we can overcome this gap and make change in our own lives and in the world.

Each Friday afternoon through the end of October the Farmstand at the Chicago Lights Urban Farm will be selling a wide variety of seasonal vegetables, herbs, and flowers.

Your purchasing fresh produce at the Farmstand directly supports Chicago Lights job-training programs, as students and young adults gain job skills through urban farming, skills that set them up for success as they pursue fulfilling careers.

While we don’t have a Friday Noonday Concert planned for this week (July 2), we are excited to be kicking off a new season of Music by the Fountain next Friday, July 9!

You are invited to join us in person in the Michigan Avenue courtyard on Fridays at 12:10 p.m.—beginning July 9—for two months of outdoor concerts.

For those who prefer to enjoy our concerts online, we will not be livestreaming the outdoor concerts but invite you to watch your favorite Friday Noonday Concerts from last summer on our YouTube channel.
Each Sunday immediately following worship our virtual Coffee Hour offers opportunity to connect with familiar friends or meet new people via Zoom.

We hope you will take a few moments to join us online for this casual time of Sunday fellowship and conversation!

For one-to-one spiritual and emotional support through difficult times, be it death, loss, illness, financial insecurity, pandemic fatigue, or other life challenges, we encourage you to consider being paired with one of our congregation’s trained and caring Stephen Ministers.

To request a match with a Stephen Minister or to learn more about this opportunity, contact David Handley, Interim Minister for Caring Ministries, or leave a confidential message for a Stephen Minister at 312.573.3365.
