COMPOST AND RECYCLING AMBASSADOR (CRA) PROGRAM

Long Beach residents 18 and over! Apply for our Compost and Recycling Ambassador Program offered at no cost, where you’ll learn about waste reduction, recycling, and composting through lectures and hands-on experiences.


This program will meet on Thursdays for 8 weeks at the Environmental Services Bureau office located on 2929 East Willow Street, Long Beach, CA 90806. Classes begin Thursday, April 6th through Thursday, May 18th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. An additional reunion class is scheduled on Thursday, June 15th.


Community members who complete the program by attending at least 7 of the 8 required classes and completing 25 required volunteer hours will be certified as Compost and Recycling Ambassadors.

Workshops


The City of Long Beach Environmental Services Bureau (ESB) hosts FREE workshops to teach residents about recycling, waste reduction, composting, and more. Workshops are offered in English and Spanish.

  • Learn to Compost: We'll teach you how to set up and maintain a backyard compost bin and vermicompost (worm) bin, see what materials can or cannot be placed in your compost bin, and how to effectively use finished compost. 
  • Do It Yourself (DIY) Green and Safe Cleaning: Learn how to make non-toxic cleaning supplies with safe, natural ingredients while saving money and reducing waste.
