What's NEW!
Welcome New EMG Coordinator
We are thrilled to announce our new UVM Extension Master Gardener coordinator, Deb Heleba! Deb has worked in Extension agriculture for over 30 years starting with the Apple Team in PSS. She has worked for a number of farming projects including the Women’s Ag Network, Land Link Vermont, New Farmer Network, Northwest Crops and Soils Program, and eOrganic (a national eXtension program that provides certified organic agriculture information). She is currently transitioning to our program from the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SARE), a regional USDA-funded competitive grants program, where she’s been working as the communications specialist. Deb will be bringing experience in on-line educational programs for adults, public communications, program evaluation and web management to our team. She is looking forward to joining our popular statewide Master Gardener program and will officially begin her duties on January 4, 2022.
Course Postponed
To give Deb a chance to learn the ins and outs of the Master Gardener Program when she comes on board in the new year, we made a difficult decision – we will not be offering a Master Gardener course in 2022. Instead, we will use this time of transition as a valuable opportunity to take a step back and review the program, visit with our volunteers, gather your feedback, and with input from our volunteers, colleagues and partners, strategize ways to improve the program, provide you with the best service possible and develop new education, training and volunteer opportunities! The next EMG course will be offered in 2023. Lisa will continue to maintain a mailing list of those interested in taking the course in 2023. Once Deb has started we will reach out for input from all of you!
