Inside the Can
April is always an adventure here at Pacific Coast Producers. All around the company our engineering and maintenance teams are busily preparing for the upcoming season as well as finishing up the year’s capital projects. April is also Earth month, so this is a great time to highlight some of the recently finished projects that not only allow Pacific Coast Producers to provide high quality products, but also contribute to improving both our plant efficiency and carbon footprint.
In 2021, our Woodland Plant commissioned a new Cleaver-Brooks boiler which replaced a boiler that was over forty years old and not very efficient. Our new boiler reduces our net NOx emissions by 85% and utilizes natural gas 20% more efficiently.
At the same time, we brought our 2.56 mW steam turbine generator online. By reusing 100% of our steam in multiple other locations in our facility, we were able to generate both energy and cost-efficient electricity.
We didn’t stop there! We finished installing large LED lighting projects at both our Woodland Plant and Distribution Center that collectively reduced electricity usage by 682,601 kWh.
We are all very excited about the many new projects on the horizon to further our goal of energy efficiency improvements and reducing our carbon footprint.
