We're Seeing Green (Sea Turtles)!
It’s rare to get green sea turtle nests in the Florida Keys so it was very exciting to count 100 hatched eggs during our excavation that made it successfully to their ocean home! We found one hatchling still hanging out in the nest. After a quick swim test, that little one also headed out to sea. We were thrilled to have the FWC come out to help with the excavation!

On September 1, 2023, the world lost Jimmy Buffett. So many of us feel such a strong connection to Jimmy, whether we had the privilege of knowing him personally or not. His music will never die, nor will the spirit of life being a celebration as he embodied it. He was a hero to the manatees and cared deeply about our oceans. We share our grief, as well as our gratitude, here with all of you.
As Jimmy said “wrinkles only go where the smiles have been.” “Breathe in, breathe out, move on.”
Rest in peace, Jimmy.

It's a record breaking year!
For the first time in 16 years, a leatherback sea turtle nest successfully hatches on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore! Read more about that HERE!

It's an all too common occurrence when boats and marine animals meet on the water... boat strikes! Sadly, we receive calls on these occurrences FAR TOO OFTEN.
One way that you can help protect marine life when you’re out enjoying the waterways is to have a designated marine animal spotter on board whenever possible. Somebody that is looking out constantly for the dolphins, manatees and sea turtles that may be found in our waterways.
Additionally, please make sure you’re following slow speed and no wake signs.
