Matching Scholarships

The Daedalian Foundation matches up to $2,000 in Flight scholarship awards, and then adds another $1,000, allowing each Flight to receive up to $3,000. When a flight awards multiple scholarships, the Foundation's matching, up to $3,000, is done in accordance with flight instructions.

Wiley Post Flight 46 Matching Scholarship

Flight $1,000. Foundation $500.

Junior at University of Oklahoma, majoring in accounting.

Student Pilot with 27 flying hours. Cadet Duties: Facilitated squadron training and events as LRS Squadron Director of Operations, worked in conjunction with Squadron Commander to maintain proficient execution of squadron training and operations, and insured proper collection of squadron accountability. Dean’s list, voted as the President of the OU Men's Lacrosse Team (2021-2023), voted as Head New Member Educator at Phi Gamma Delta (2021).

Career goal: "I hope to earn a pilot or CSO slot on the upcoming rated board and after college proceed to training and continue on with my Air Force career. I do not at this time know how long I will stay in the service, but if I get out after my service requirement, I plan on returning to school to pursue a law degree or an MBA.”

Flight $1,000. Foundation $500.

Junior at University of Oklahoma, majoring in management.

Beginner Student Pilot with 1 flying hour. Cadet Duties: Morale, Welfare and Recreation Commander and Flight Simulator Project Manager. Academic Achievement Award, AS300 Warrior Spirit Award, Commendation Ribbon - Det 675 AFROTC, Graduated 65/570 at 2021 Field Training.

Career goal: “I want to pursue and achieve my goal of being a C-5 Galaxy pilot in the U.S. Air Force while honing my leadership and management skills as an Active Duty Officer. I want to become an instructor pilot for the C-5s and gain experience by traveling the world. Eventually, I would like to be a Squadron Commander and retire from the Air Force as a Colonel.”

Junior at University of Oklahoma, majoring in psychology.

Cadet Duties: Deputy Flight Commander and Cadet Training Officer, AFROTC Academic achievement award and OU Deans list (4.0).

Career goal: “My goal is to be an asset to my country. I would like to achieve this by serving in the United States Air Force to my highest potential, and based on my skills, aptitudes, and interests, I strongly believe that I would be best utilized in the field of aviation. Following my service to the Air Force, I would like to pursue a civilian career in either aviation or law enforcement.”

Junior at University of Oklahoma, majoring in communications.

Student Pilot with 22.6 flying hours. Cadet duties- Physical Fitness Officer. Three Academic Achievement Awards, volunteered in children’s ministry at his church for over two years and interned at his church over a summer where they focused on our leadership and personal development.

Career goal: “I plan to pursue a career in aviation. I have been fascinated with flight for the longest time and have had the opportunity to accrue flight hours that only spurred my passion for aviation forward. I would like to fly for the military and for the rest of my life in order to keep driving forward with my passion.”

Sophomore at Oklahoma State University, getting a Master's in Sociology, crime and deviance emphasis and a Master's in Business Administration.

Private Pilot with 91.3 flying hours. Cadet Duties: Arnold Air Society Director of Operations, Field Training Prep responsibilities. Dean’s List honors (5x), Summa Cum laude graduate 2019, Volleyball Team Captain, AFROTC Commanders Leadership Incentive Scholarship.

Career goal: “My goal is to be a career-long Air Force Officer. I am aiming at becoming a pilot and receive an ENJJPT position, then I want to fly A-10s. Whenever it comes time to retire after 20+ years, I hope to be involved in a criminal justice department as a college professor.”

Sophomore at Oklahoma State University, majoring in aviation management.

Student Pilot with 41 flying hours. Dean's honor roll (fall 2020), President's honor roll (spring 2021, fall 2021), Air Warrior Courage Foundation Award (AFROTC).

Career goal: “My goals include commissioning as an officer into the Air Force with my career focus as either pilot, Combat Systems Officer, or aircraft maintenance officer. I am very interested in aviation for a career no matter what it is, but I am really focusing on getting a pilot slot, although I would be happy with any job stated above.”

Our election closed on February 11, 2022. The following people were approved by national vote to join the Order of Daedalians Board of Directors:

  • Lt. Gen. Mark “Chris” Nowland, USAF (Ret)
  • Lt. Gen. Douglas Owens, USAF (Ret)
  • Lt. Col. Olga Custodio, USAFR (Ret)

Also approved as an honorary member was Mary Wallace “Wally” Funk.

Flight 22 to Discuss Operation Combat Talon


Flight 22 invites all Daedalians to participate in their April meeting where Flight member Don Krump will discuss Operation Combat Talon using C-130's equipped with the Fulton recovery system. Combat Talon was an operation to infiltrate and extract special operations in countries not friendly to the U.S.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 1500 PDT.
