December 10, 2019

Dear Neighbors,

Happy holidays to you and your ‘ohana. We wanted to provide you with an update on the status of Hanahau‘oli's new property at 1911 Ke‘eaumoku Street. To date, the property has been secured with temporary fencing and additional security. As was mentioned in our earlier communications, the immediate priority is to clear the property and remediate any environmental hazards. Then, we will plant grass and initiate more permanent and aesthetically pleasing fencing and/or borders. This will beautify the space and allow children to use the space for play while we, as a school community, engage in thoughtful, strategic and master campus planning.

The school has just obtained a demolition permit from the Department of Planning & Permitting. We plan to demolish those structures closest to Ke‘eaumoku Street on Monday, December 16 and those structures closest to campus on Thursday, December 19.

The demolition process is being led by a team of experienced architects, engineers and contractors. Demolition work will be conducted from 8am-4pm, with no activity on Christmas and New Year’s Day. The parking area in front of the property will be zoned off for contractor vehicles and machinery. As to be expected with such a project, there will be additional noise the week of December 16 but please know that we will do our due diligence to minimize these inconveniences and disruptions. The hope is that once this initial land transition phase is complete, the neighborhood will be enhanced with a property that is secured, clean, and safe.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Tony Yee, Director of Operations, at ayee@hanahauoli.org or 949-6461. We wish you a wonderful holiday season.

Sincerely,

Lia Woo
