IN3 Launches Tech Tuesday Event

Tuesday, September 28, 2021

Join IN3 for its inaugural Tech Tuesday event on Tuesday, September 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (EDT).  This collaborative event, in association with Midwest Tech Bridge, will be focused on the technology of Autonomy for Hypersonics.

Please join us for this special hybrid event, where you will be able to join us in-person or virtually, and hear from a nationally recognized expert in the field of hypersonics. A light lunch will be served after the presentation.

Julie Parish will be the featured speaker. Dr. Parish has been at Sandia for the past ten years, after completing her aerospace engineering degrees at Texas A&M University. She recently moved from technical staff working in Navigation, Guidance, and Control to management of the Autonomy for Hypersonics department. Her previous roles include Principal Investigator of several Lab-Directed R&D projects in hypersonic vehicle control and technical lead for mission subsystems, including roles as Boost Guidance Lead, Attitude Control System Lead, and Trajectory Generation Lead for flight vehicle experiments. Dr. Parish is an AIAA Associate Fellow and has served on the AIAA Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Technical Committee (TC) for ten years, most recently as TC Chair elect and GN&C Deputy Technical Discipline Chair for the 2016 and 2020 AIAA SciTech Forums.

Parish is now the manager of Sandia’s Autonomy for Hypersonics (A4H) Mission Campaign. A4H is an internally funded multi-year effort focused on research and development of autonomous system technologies to significantly enhance the warfighting utility of hypersonic flight systems. Specifically, the resulting capabilities will 1) provide autonomous mission planning for rapid response to time- sensitive threats, and 2) enable adaptive, highly-maneuvering vehicles that intelligently navigate, guide, and control themselves and home-in on targets.
