As our hottest weather begins to cool, activity at Bridge to Home is at a fever pitch! Our team of staff and volunteers are tirelessly working toward moving furniture from our day center to the new building and rearranging lots of hotel furniture to better accommodate guests and staff and to set the stage of extending enrichment programming on-site. Wow! Our goal is to have much of the movement completed by the beginning of September so that we can be prepared for the beginning of the school year.

Locally and nationally, the demand for family shelter begins to spike when school begins and the weather starts to cool. We are already seeing this and are getting ready to ramp up our services to shelter up to 70 households by the end of December! As a community-based response to homelessness, we need you now more than ever. Please reach out if you have some time to share.

It's that time of year again—please join us at our sixth annual celebration: Eat, Drink & Be Giving! This year’s event will feature live music from The Cider Janes, a full selection of hot and cold appetizers, local craft beer and wine, and a dessert dash for home-baked confections. Our emcee, Lacey Evans, is the host and producer of KGW’s experiential and unique lifestyle show, Hello, Rose City! A paddle raise to support the program will be offered. Fall festive attire is encouraged. Visit familypromiseoftv.org to reserve your tickets or click the yellow button below. Club 365 members receive two complimentary tickets.

Our Table Cooperative Farm offered our guests the opportunity to learn about organic gardening and eating foods from every color of the rainbow to nourish our bodies. Some hungry chickens made a special appearance. Many thanks to Gigi S., Dorothy, Karen E., and Tigard UMC for making this event possible!

And the bus ride there was almost as much fun as the farm!

For FPTV families, the school year has begun! Our case managers are hard at work ensuring all children in program are enrolled in school and have all the supplies they need for the year. Volunteers and community partners rallied and provided FPTV with all the backpacks, notebooks, and other tools the kiddos in program need in order to be successful in school. Education empowers us all and is a powerful tool on the path towards stabilization.

Friday night bingo was such a hit that we plan to have it as a monthly activity! If you are interested in volunteering, supplying sweet treats, or providing prizes, please contact Gina.

Saturday night community meals are a weekly highlight for guests. Volunteers are needed to prepare and serve meals each Saturday night in September.

Volunteers are also needed for leading our monthly grounds clean-up at Bridge to Home, disassembling a play structure and moving it from our day center to our new hotel, and pressure-washing a small area at the hotel to prepare for a temporary outdoor play space for kiddos in our program. Online training is not required for volunteers completing these tasks.

Please contact Gina at gina@familypromiseoftv.org to learn how you can help. All volunteers need to complete two training modules which cover trauma-informed care guidelines. This training is conveniently available online 24/7 and takes approximately two hours to complete. Click on the yellow button below to get started!
