Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap.

Healing

(n. the act of getting well, mending)

Ministry of Care has been visiting Edna regularly for years, bringing her the Eucharist and catching her up on what’s happening at church. She’s so grateful for these visits that Edna offers to pay her ministers. “At least take something to cover your gas, coming to visit me every week must be so expensive,” she says. The ministers always tell Edna that no repayment is necessary. Earlier this year, Edna was hospitalized with an infection. Upon learning this, the ministers brought Edna a Prayer Shawl, which along with prayers from her ministers, Edna credits with restoring her good health. Having learned that the Care Ministry would not accept payment for their generosity of time, talent and treasure, Edna baked cookies for her ministers to say thank you. Feeling like that wasn’t nearly enough of a thank you for her good health, Edna prayed for her ministers. She told her them, “Your visits and your generosity mean so much to me. I know the prayer shawl and your prayers are what helped me get better. So, I said a special prayer for you, and my daughter even joined me.”
