CARVER VOICES - FEBRUARY
CARVER CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Carver Center will be honoring three exceptional members of our community at our Black History Month celebration on Saturday, February 25.  Isaiah Brown, Carver Center’s Teen Center Assistant, Kiah Thomas, a member of the New Guard organization, which is dedicated to building power with and for young BIPoC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) and, Vanessa Clay-Williams, a Port Chester School District counselor, who has been dedicated to the field of education for over 20 years.

Buffet lunch will be provided. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to fdesk@carvercenter.org or call 914.305.6009.
FEEDING OUR COMMUNITY

We had a "soft opening" of our newly expanded Carver Market and the feedback from our clients has been positive. The increase in square footage has allowed our clients to have a more enjoyable shopping experience and the additional space enables us to have more healthy and nutritious food available to the growing number of people who rely on the Carver Market each week.
LEARNING TO CREATE

This semester our Tweens are focusing on their Student Led Project-Based Learning experiences. They have chosen to work on a multitude of projects that are rooted in real-world problems involving their areas of interest. For our Black History Month celebration, some of our more artistic students are painting a mural using donated fabrics from the community.
CARVER CENTER TURNS 80 ON APRIL 22ND!

We are putting the final touches on our Spring Benefit. This year, we will be honoring past Board Chair, Maureen Gomez, with our Sister Rosemary Sheehan Award for Volunteerism. The award is bestowed upon a Carver Volunteer who has exemplified Sister Sheehan's spirit and dedication to enriching our community members' lives. For information about our Benefit, go to https://carvercenter.org/2023-spring-benefit/

FEBRUARY FIELD TRIP FOR TEEN CENTER MEMBERS AND TEEN SCHOLARS

On February 23rd, our Teens and Teen Scholars are taking a trip to the
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Throughout the month of February, The MET is celebrating the rich culture and history of African Americans with a variety of programs and exhibitions for all ages.
IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO SHOW YOUR LOVE!

In the month of February, Carver Center will receive $1 from every Bloomin' 4 Good bouquet sold at the Stop & Shop at 25 Waterfront Place, Port Chester. Make someone's day and help Carver at the same time. It's a win-win!
