What's Happening at Hillsdale

Knights Families,

We are pleased to announce that we are fast approaching our pre-covid membership numbers!! Thanks to all who have signed up--no obligation when signing up...we just want to be able to reach as much of our HHS community as possible. We are not picky--we take support of any type.---just signing up on the Google doc is support! You can also support by gifting items, your time, or monetary donations. We appreciate it all. PTSO Member Info Form

Before you know it the germs will be back-to-school, too. Yuck! We are in need of kleenex, clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, and AA batteries schoolwide. If you are able to donate, please contact us hhsknightsPTSOpresident@gmail.com and we can give you further instructions. Thanks for helping us keep germs out of the classroom!

Our Parent/Family Booster groups have started up for the year...we had our first meeting last week. Check the calendar for our other booster meetings---athletics, dance, music, drama, and of course The HHS Foundation. The Foundation is doing their beginning of the year drive right now-- Foundation Drive & Corporate Matching Opportunity These donations directly help our students with smaller class sizes, our amazing house and advisory system, and tech upgrades--to name a few. Every little bit counts!!

Our fall sports are also starting up and on any given night, we can have any number of teams competing. Last night, it was volleyball and waterpolo. This afternoon and tonight, the JV and Varsity football teams will be playing in Livermore. If you haven't watched our Knights teams in action--you should! See below for the sporting events for this coming week.

Next week is our Week of Welcome! We wrap up this amazing week with our first rally of the year. It is always a treat to see the performances and fun spirit activities that happen.

Make sure to scroll through this entire bulletin to see more of the exciting happenings in and around our campus...the HHS Marketplace is back at the end of September. See how to become a vendor and other ways you can support this Senior Class Fundraising event!

Until next week...

Happy Birthday, SLCs!

We’re thrilled to celebrate a remarkable milestone - our beloved house system is turning 20 this year! To commemorate, all students will receive a fun token during back-to-school-night in September.

Hillsdale teachers and staff take great pride in nurturing our students through Small Learning Communities. The HHS Foundation was established with the sole purpose of supporting the Houses by bridging the gap between what the district pays and the resources required by our school.

Thus far, the Foundation has covered millions of dollars of costs, and this year our goal is to raise $600,000. While the suggested contribution is $750 per student, we’re truly grateful for any amount you can contribute. Let’s come together to continue to make a difference in the lives of our students.

We are open every Friday from 7:30am-9:00am in the Alameda parking lot. We need August volunteers to work the drive thru OR deliver groceries to 2-3 families who do not have transportation. If you would like to volunteer in August, please sign up here.

Hillsdale Community Garden

Our Hillsdale Community Garden provides organic fruits and vegetables to Hillsdale families enrolled in our Peace Pantry. Primary volunteer opportunities are Thursday harvest support from 4:00pm-5:00pm and Friday morning projects from 8:00am-11:30am. We also have flexible volunteer times to help with watering, pruning or special projects. Our amazing HHS Community Garden Directors Daniel and Yvonne indicate we will have an amazing harvest this year of fruits and vegetables so we definitely need a lot of help every Thursday afternoon for distribution Friday mornings at our Emergency Food Drive Thru. Please follow us on IG at @hhs_community_garden for updates. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Brett Stevenson at bstevenson@smuhsd.org. We have a WhatsApp group where we publish our weekly tasks in the garden.
