Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

- Romans 13:1

Did you vote? You should, you are a citizen not only of heaven (thank you Jesus), but also a citizen of the United States of America. How should you vote? Well, just like everything else...

How should you speak? As a follower of Jesus would.

How should you email, text, or post? As a follower of Jesus would.

How should you parent? As a follower of Jesus would.

How should you work? As a follower of Jesus would.

How should you treat others? As a follower of Jesus would.

How should you vote? As a follower of Jesus would vote.

We live in a wonderful country where you, fellow redeemed in Christ, get to vote as a Christian. It is a privilege and a joy. Well most of it– stumbling through cryptic legal jargon is another discussion for another time, but God is with you!

Seriously, if the votes don’t go your way, always remember that Jesus is bigger than your vote and there is “no authority except that which God has established.” The death and resurrection of Jesus are not tied to anything you or anyone else does– not even the vote. We are saved by the work of Christ alone who declared, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me.”

Rest easy and vote knowing Christ is still risen!

See you Sunday as we continue The Story- chapter 29 “Paul’s Mission.”

I can’t wait.

Lord Jesus, you reign and rule over our nation and all those who vote. Remind us, Lord, that you are sovereign over all things and that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to you. AMEN.

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
