Big Congrats to the New Youth Council
The Diocese of WNC is honored and excited to announce your 2023-24 Youth Council.
This year we had an amazing number of youths apply, and we know these 16 chosen will represent us well. Please be in prayer for them as they report for duty this weekend at the Youth Council Retreat at Lake Logan. Here they will learn new leadership skills, plan programming for the fall, and build the sacred community that is so important for them to work well together. Frank and I are so excited to lead this group of youth and hope for a great year with growth and lots of fun together!
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers for our youth program!

Two Sessions Left! Give Feedback on Revised
Constitution and Canons
Our Constitution and Canons Committee has been hard at work to reform our important driving documents, and they want your feedback. All Episcopalians in the Diocese of Western North Carolina are welcome to respond by attending a feedback session.
Aug. 26 - Zoom
Aug. 29 - Hendersonville
From the committee:
As part of our Diocesan discernment in calling Bishop José seven years ago, we identified a restatement of our Constitution and Canons as a goal for our life together. We recognized that our current documents, which evolved in a piecemeal fashion over several decades, are not a good reflection of how we currently live our common life. Since the 2017 annual Convention of the Diocese, the Committee on Constitution and Canons (the “Committee”) has been working on restatements of the Constitution and Canons. A proposed restated version was rejected by the 2021 Convention. The 2022 Convention tasked the Committee with making further revisions and it is anticipated that the Committee’s recommendations will be presented to the 2023 Convention for a decision.

Bishop José is passionate about leading members of our diocesan community on a journey of spiritual renewal to where Jesus walked, prayed, taught, healed, and loved. Holy Land Pilgrimages happen every couple of years, and the next will be in the season of Advent 2025. If you're interested, sign up using this link.

Episcopal Church Names Creation Care Grant Recipients
Seeking to support creative and long-term eco-ministries, The Episcopal Church’s Task Force on the Care of Creation and Environmental Racism selected 12 new grant recipients, approved by the church’s Executive Council during its June meeting. In 2022, The Episcopal Church’s General Convention allocated funds to the task force to continue supporting local and regional eco-ministry efforts, recognizing “care of creation and environmental justice as integral and ongoing parts of the church’s loving, liberating, and life-giving work.”

Extending Prayers for Presiding Bishop Curry
Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Curry was admitted to the hospital on Aug. 17 and is now resting at home. The cause was a recurrence of internal bleeding that required him to be hospitalized over Memorial Day weekend. Please join us in prayer as Curry’s doctors intervene and prepare to surgically remove his right adrenal gland and an attached mass on Friday, Sept. 8, after which he will rest for a few weeks before resuming his regular work schedule.
