We also join in prayer this week for the people of Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.

Pursue 2025: WMU of Texas Conference

BWA Women Executive Director Merritt Johnston and BWA Global Partnership Associate Shirley Porto were honored to serve this weekend at the 2025 Pursue Conference hosted by WMU (Woman's Missionary Union) of Texas in Waco, Texas, USA. More than 500 women and men were in attendance for this annual mission-centered gathering. We give thanks for their faithful ministry and global vision, and we pray for the Lord's continued blessings over WMU.

Standing with Myanmar

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on March 28, causing devastation in a region already struggling with a weakened infrastructure and civil conflict. More than 3,000 people were killed, thousands more injured, and hundreds still missing. The BWA is partnering with local Burmese Baptist leaders, including Myanmar Baptist Convention (MBC) which is one of the largest Christian organizations in Myanmar. We are working with the MBC Disaster Management Committee to coordinate disaster response efforts, and we ask for your prayers and support at this critical time.  

Prayer Points

• Pray for wisdom and safety for MBC leaders as they seek to coordinate response efforts.
• Pray for rescue efforts and for those who are still missing to be found.
• Pray for access to life-saving humanitarian relief – including food, water, and shelter supplies.
• Pray for affected children and their protection.
• Pray for restoration of services like electricity, water, and communication.
• Pray for Asia Pacific Baptist Federation leadership as they come alongside leaders in the region to provide pastoral care and support.

A Call for Restorative Racial Justice

The Baptist World Alliance is sending a delegation to the 4th Session of the Permanent Forum on People of African Descent in New York City, New York (USA), on April 14-15. As part of the week's activities, the BWA is hosting an ecumenical worship service on Tuesday, April 15, at 6 pm at the Church Center for the United Nations. The theme is “The Missing SDG: A Call for Restorative Racial Justice” with guest speakers Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cook and Rev. Dr. Boise Kimber, President of National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. Please join us in prayer for this strategic time of prayer, worship, and advocacy.

A Prayer for Enlightenment

Lord God, enlighten us through your word so that we can discover the needs of the people around us. You are God, the Almighty, and we thank you that like a Father you protect us and through your divine mercy and love you create living space for us and for every single person. We ask you especially to show mercy to our nation. Enlighten us through your divine Spirit and create in the hearts of the people interest in your word.

And in times of crisis and challenges, give wisdom from above so that we stay true to your word so that we can respond to the different needs - in both the spiritual and physical aspects. God, watch over us, because of the mercy and love of your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
