New Year, New Intentions
With the start of the new year, Uplift staff participated in intention setting and vision boarding upon returning to the office after winter break. We value self-care and individuality in our work space and dedicated uninterrupted time for the team to reflect on who they are and what they aspire to accomplish in 2019. This focus self-care allows our clinicians and staff to better serve Uplift's children and families. We hope your year is filled with positivity and intentionality.
Did You Know?
Uplift Center for Grieving Children works to strengthen communities that face trauma and violence, so children attending schools in high crime areas throughout Philadelphia have a safe and supportive environment to turn to when a crisis occurs. A recent article in Philadelphia Public School's  The Notebook  newspaper featured Uplift's post-crisis work at area schools, offering a deeper look at this important facet of Uplift's work, and why it's so important.

Dinner Included!
Thanks to the generosity of 100 Women Philadelphia , a group of civic-minded women that meet four times a year to pool resources and help worthy causes in Philadelphia, Uplift’s Family Services Groups now offer dinner to children and caregiver participants in all four sites throughout the city. Previously, group members arrived hungry and worn out from their day. Providing a filling food option is a relief to many caregivers, offering one less thing they need to think about. Meals help children and caregivers focus on active participation and promote a sense of community. Uplift’s ability to provide dinner has enhanced group dynamics and strengthened the bonds of caring and commitment to the families we serve.
Uplift's Work With Justice-Involved Youth
Uplift is proud to partner with  Philadelphia’s Juvenile Justice Services Center  and the  NorthEast Treatment Center , a behavioral health and social services agency, to provide grief groups to justice-involved youth. We know that many justice-involved youth have experienced trauma and pain, and for some, this can be the root of their involvement with the justice system. Uplift’s grief groups work to improve participants’ emotional awareness and bring about more positive future outcomes. By helping participants fully process their grief and its impact, the program aids them in their future orientation, particularly upon returning to their homes and neighborhoods. These “emotion wheels” created by program participants show the depths of their feelings and commitment to being a part of Uplift’s healing program.
