In the Pictorial Class B, Nancy Hastings, of the New England Garden Club Photo Group, placed 3rd in a three-way tie for her image Magic Carpet Ride, with a score of 23 points.
Nancy, who lives in Cutler , ME, says " What a surprise! I took "Magic Carpet Ride” just the very morning your email came through about your efforts to promote photos at the NH conference. The tedder in my photo has been sitting in our backyard pasture for more than 40 years, and it was serendipity that the bluets were in profusion this spring and the sun just right in its place. The mounted photo is crisp and clear and such an enjoyable way to view the photo rather than just on my laptop.
In Pictorial Class B John Hoffman of the North Country Camera Club placed 3rd also, with his image. "The Blacksmith's Anvil."
John says 'My wife and I were visiting Mystic Seaport as part of an anniversary road trip. We were in the Blacksmith Shop and the interpreter asked if I wanted the “shot of a lifetime”. I said “sure”. He coached me on timing my shutter firing with his pounding on the anvil. Took a number of tries to get a decent capture. Not sure if it’s a shot of a lifetime, but I like it. "
Wayne Justason of the Lakes Region Camera Club, garnered 3rd in this 3-way tie for his image "Fierce Competition."
Wayne says "The photo was taken at "The Wick 338" in Southwick MA. It is a Motocross Track. http://www.thewick338.com/about.html
I spent the day at the track on July 31, 2022, photographing the many races with my Nikon D500, Tamron 18-400 zoom lens @ 122mm, f/8, 2500 sec."
Kristin Hand, LRCC's representative to NECCC says '
Congrats Wayne! You can feel justly proud of placing that high within the entries from several other New England Camera clubs. Well done! They will be mailing me a ribbon to give to you.
In Nature Class A ,Tom Murray, of the Manchester Camera Club won 2nd prize with 25 points for his image
"Swallow Feeding Young "
Tom says " I took this photo this summer at Benson Park, Hudson NH. There I see baby sparrows setting on a branch. Then I waited a long time for the mother to come back to feed them. That's when I got my short.
Nikon D500 - Sigma 150-600mm lens f6.3 - 1/1250 sec - ISO1600 Focal Length 600mm Blue Barn Swallows
In Nature Class B, Shirley Reed, former co-president of the Seacoast Camera Club won the 1st prize for her image-
"The One that Got Away " with a score of 25!
Seacoast CC scored 2nd in this Class with 93 points

Shirley says
" I spotted these juvenile bears early July 2022, just as the Salmon run was just starting in Katmai National Park Alaska at the famous Brook Falls. The Salmon were few and far between, and the brown bears and I were waiting patiently for a fish to appear, I caught the perfect moment. The three of us were in awe at the sudden appearance of the energetic Salmon. Myself and the Salmon were the only two victors. Me with my shot capturing the surprise, and this salmon for successfully navigating between these two on its journey onward to its spawning grounds."
Shirley is our newest PSA individual member! Aren't we lucky she is one of us!!!

Lakes Region Camera Club

The Lakes Region Camera Club is holding hybrid meetings twice a month - the first and third Wednesday - at the Meredith Library.
As our membership includes the full gamut of photography experience from Professional to Novice, we have been calling upon each other to do programs and share 'how to'' information.
Our former presidents have been most gracious with their encouragement, their tips and with teaching programs, and as our meetings are recorded, so their information is accessible afterwards!
Thanks to Ida Gould, our web site is current, and thanks to Tony Canzano's dedication, the images posted to our facebook page is kept current.
Tony has designed our membership flyer too... Paying memberships, discontinued during covid, will resume in January at $30 per family per year. We invite you to involve your children!
Several LRCC members entered the Sandwich Fair Photo Contest, and helped the Photography Chairman Jeff McEvoy and his wife Trecia, with processing and displaying the entries.

She also volunteered to help set up the photo exhibit, and assisted other photographers with the entry forms during the sign-up.

I decided at the last minute to use some of the many prints I have just hanging around in bins to enter the photo contest myself this year. I was gratified to see that I've still Got It!".

Notes from Arabella Dane
PSA NH Membership Director
Arabella Dane says "I had the great honor and pleasure to serve as the judge for a recent in-club competition for the Merrimack Valley Camera Club members. Extraordinarily fine work was displayed in all the classes. The club uses a website program called Visual Pursuits which has a very efficient judging component that makes the judging quite easy and equitable. There is a checklist of attributes and deficiencies to be considered, in addition to the normal point scoring process, and a very good component for comment writing. Once scored, the images in each class can be rearranged into the order defined by the points. Adjustments can be made in all the parts of the process as you go along. After judging is completed the file for the show is accessible to the members on the club's web site.
Below is one of 1st prize, winning images and you can see to the left of the beautiful image the screen where the comprehensive judging system designed by Visual Pursuits resides.
Notes from Bob Constanzo,
Assistant PSA NH Membership Director

"Artist Bluff Is a well known rig overlooking the lake near the entrance to Cannon Mountain and the Franconia Notch state park. I took the steep almost vertical 1/4 mile trail carrying 15 lbs of camera equipment. It scared the heck out of me. The image was judged as crooked. I laughed and I knew the image would have gotten more points during the golden hour but climbing a dangerous trail was not worth it. However, I was one of the most rewarding images."
