Overcoming Challenges and Grief
Morgan* lived at Becky's Place for 6 months and was tested in several ways while she was here. Morgan was fleeing an abusive situation but often wanted to return to the comfort of her home and missed her dog terribly. The staff and her fellow housemates rallied around her to give her support and show her that she could keep herself safe with help.

Morgan found employment and was working hard but had to quarantine a couple of times which impacted her financially. One day, Morgan received a call that her mother was terminally ill, and she was devastated. When her mother died, everyone rallied around Morgan again to show her love and support during a difficult time. Her housemates even chipped in to purchase an urn for her mother.

Morgan returned to work and had many hard days dealing with her grief. Staff was able to assist her in getting her dog back and Morgan’s spirits lifted. She continued to work and was approved for income-based housing. She was excited but scared to go out into the world alone. Morgan has moved into permanent housing and feels independent and proud of herself. She and her dog visit Becky's Place often when she needs advice or support.

Becky's Place Receives
United Way of South Central Indiana Grant
Becky’s Place recently received a $30,000 grant from United Way of South Central Indiana. These funds were part of an Economic Relief Initiative Grant that was awarded to United Way of South Central Indiana through a partnership between Lilly Endowment Inc. and Indiana United Ways. These funds will be used to help with operational expenses of the shelter. We thank United Way of South Central Indiana for their generous support in providing help and creating hope for homeless women and children in our community.

Becky's Place Run for Hope 5K Cancelled
Due to the uncertainty caused by the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, we are not going to be holding our Annual Run for Hope 5K this year. We had hoped to bring this event back as an in-person event but do not feel we are able to do that at this time. We appreciate all your support for this event over the years. Instead of our annual Run for Hope 5K, we invite you to join us on December 7 for our annual Christmas Open House. This will replace the 5K to raise much needed funding for Becky’s Place. Please contact Cheri Bush cbush@archindy.org or Corrina Hayes chayes@ccbin.org to sponsor.
