Welcome to the Team,
Mr. Christian Bentley!
Hello, St. Augustine community! My name is Mr. Christian Bentley, and starting next school year, I will be the new Technology teacher. I bring with me 14 prior years of experience teaching Technology. I will be splitting my time between St. Augustine and St. John the Evangelist school (in Hydes, MD), where I will be entering my 11th year of teaching. I have a passion for teaching students how to use technology to spur creativity, solve problems, code, write, engineer, and achieve success in ways they never previously thought possible. I look forward to joining your community in the fall, and thank you in advance for the fun we're about to have!

Volunteer Hours

Family Service Initiative
As is our Catholic tradition, service and volunteering from students and parents are an important component of Catholic education. Opportunities for volunteers are plentiful and varied through both the school and parish.
Overview
The Family Service Initiative requires each family to perform 20 hours of service (10 hours per family with a single or deployed parent) from a predetermined list of activities. The Family Service Initiative year begins on June 1st and ends on May 31st. Families that fail to complete the required 20 (or 10) hours of service by May 31st will be required to pay a fee.
Family Service Initiative Fee
A family unable to complete any service hours will be required to pay a $500 fee (20 hours X $25 = $500). This fee will be reduced by $25 for every hour of service completed. Likewise, a family with a single or deployed parent will be required to pay a $250 fee (10 hours X $25 = $250). This fee will also be reduced by $25 for every hour of service completed. Families of students enrolled during the course of the school year will follow the service hour schedule as outlined in the Parent and Student Handbook.
Record Keeping
It is the responsibility of each family to maintain an accurate record of service hours. Each family will maintain their Family Service Record utilizing Track it Forward. To sign up as a volunteer, go to the Parents tab on the St. Augustine School website and click on Volunteer Hours. To log hours, go to trackitforward.com and sign in using your account name and password. The complete instructions for Track it Forward are located on the volunteering page of the St. Augustine School website. Hours that are not entered into Track it Forward within 30 days of the service will not be counted toward your Family Service Hours. No exceptions can be made after 30 days have passed. Once your family has submitted 20 service hours, you will receive confirmation that your hours are complete. No additional tracking is required.

SAS Family Business Partnerships directory advertising:
Are you looking for a great landscaping company, painting professionals, or someone who specializes in power washing? How about a photographer, an accountant, or someone who cuts and styles hair? It can be daunting to seek out individuals or companies you don't know to help you with specific needs and services. There may be someone within our own school community who can help you!
As a follow-up from the virtual HSA General Meeting, the Dads Club will be assisting SAS with launching a brand new directory called SAS Family Business Partnerships! This will be a great way for not only the school to utilize the skills and talents of our school community, but also for school community members to support one another. Our ultimate goal here is to create community partnerships. We know some individuals and/or their businesses would love to provide "at cost" services for school families or the school. Others might want to provide donated services to simply share the good about them and/or their business. Please note that those who join this directory will ultimately be responsible for deciding how they provide their services.
If you are interested in listing your services in the directory, simply fill out the Google Form link below! This form will be live through April 4, 2025. As an added incentive for filling out the form, your child will receive a free Dress Pass! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Miller, Mrs. Kaplan, or any member of the Dads Club. We look forward to building a great new resource for our school community!
