Final Week! On-Campus Flu Shot Clinics
Walk-ins Welcome; Open to All Faculty and Staff
Until Thursday, October 14, seasonal influenza (flu) vaccines are available for faculty and staff at on-campus and satellite flu shot locations at no-cost. Regardless of your health insurance provider, choose the date and location that works best with your schedule.

  • Walk-ins welcomed but advance registration is encouraged. Walk-in appointments are subject to availability. Must present your AU ID

  • CareFirst and Kaiser Permanente members, are encouraged to attend a date sponsored by your health insurance provider.

Can't make it to an on-campus or satellite clinic? Explore additional flu shot opportunities.

If you have health insurance*, you can also contact your provider directly to schedule a low or no-cost flu shot. Flu shots are also available at participating retail pharmacies, grocery stores, or clinics.

Kaiser Permanente Members: From October 1, 2021 - March 31, 2022, receive a flu shot from multiple retail locations at no additional cost. To find a participating location near you, visit the Kaiser Permanente flu shot website or call their flu shot hotline at 1-800-482-4738.

Pfizer Booster Shots Available to AU Community
Walgreens at 3301 New Mexico Avenue
American University has partnered with Walgreens at 3301 New Mexico Avenue to provide the Pfizer vaccine booster shot to AU community members (faculty, staff, and students) on select dates now through October 24. Appointments are NOT required.

WALK-IN SCHEDULE
  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m.
  • Sunday, October 24 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Please bring with you:
  1. Government issued ID
  2. Health insurance card
  3. Original COVID vaccination card 
  4. Completed Walgreens consent form

Questions about COVID-19 vaccine booster shots and eligibility? Please refer to the CDC vaccine booster shot guidance or contact your healthcare provider. Anyone eligible for a booster shot can also receive it at a variety of locations, including pharmacies and health care providers.

Lunchtime Walking Series
October 13 at 12:10pm
Every Wednesday in October at 12:10pm, join fellow colleagues from around campus to walk AU's Outdoor Trail, a scenic 1.25 mile loop around main campus.

All sessions start and end at the Labyrinth, located in front of Kay Spiritual Center. Sessions begin at 12:10pm, rain or shine. Registration is not required.

Stretch-it-Out Session

It's time to Stretch-it-Out! During a 15-minute stretch break designed by a personal trainer, learn dynamic movements and static stretches designed to do right at your work station.

Join Kay Spiritual Center's Fitness Challenge
Sunday, October 10 - Saturday, October 16
Join AU's University Chaplain in a fun 7k fitness challenge this week! Pick any exercise of choice and complete 1K a day -- that’s 0.62 miles, seven times in a row. Creativity and AU spirit is highly encouraged!

Registration is not required. Open to students, faculty, staff, parents & families, and alumni.
