Important Reminders
As we are nearing the end of the year, here are some important reminders for you and your team.
-
SoCalREN Multifamily Financing Program SUSPENDED: Due to recent examination of existing statewide programs and survey of interested property owners, the SoCalREN has effective immediately suspended the SoCalREN Multifamily Financing Program. SoCalREN will re-examine its current finance offering and identify new potential financing products or strategies that can be deployed to meet property owner’s capital financing needs in this fast-paced market. At this time, we ask that contractors please remove any references to the Program from your outreach and do not use any cobranded materials that mention the Multifamily Financing Program. The SoCalREN Multifamily Team will work with Contractors in future designs and product offerings for strategies and feedback to be more successful.
-
Complete Construction: Contractors must complete construction by December 15, 2021. If you need assistance, please reach out to your Account Manager for general support and discuss potential ways to expedite moving your projects forward.

Contractor Spotlight: Utility Incentive Co.
|
Tell us about your business and how you got started? I started with another energy conservation company, Southwest Environmental, in 1997, focusing on water conservation measures. I eventually started their utility-based lighting rebate programs in 2000. When the Public Utilities changed some rebate guidelines in 2003, I left Southwest Environmental and started my own company, Utility Incentive Inc. My new focus is on utility incentives and rebates for multi-family lighting and water conservation measures.
|
What’s one thing you love about the work you do? I enjoy speaking to clients about saving energy in their communities with proper LED lighting design and water conservation measures. I like reducing a client's energy bill and providing them with better, safer, maintenance-free lighting. Installing a 25w LED flood in place of a 150w halogen flood lets me know I am helping the client and the planet. In addition, I have a great team of employees that I get to work with every day.

What is your favorite part of participating in the SoCalREN Multifamily Program? SoCalREN provides an excellent platform for contractors to help communities save energy. Those savings are verified and transparent with the help of their engineering team and knowledgeable admin team. The incredible SoCalREN incentive levels make it very hard for clients to pass up on energy savings projects!

|
What has been your favorite project over the last few years? I am very excited about a portfolio we are currently working with called CF Assets. Some of their HVAC and boiler equipment are in the final stages of operation. The SoCalREN incentives make it much easier for the client to acquire new equipment without massive capital expenditure. With SoCalREN’s Program, we can help the client meet Green Lending requirements along with providing the SoCalREN incentives to offset those Green Loan requirements.
