This week we celebrated Thanksgiving Day in the US. It's a reminder to be thankful all year long! Even with all the challenges of present times, there is much good to celebrate, too. We are grateful to you for your passion and work on behalf of the environment, and also to the countless others around the globe who are working for the greater good.

Our Annual 4GEN AWARDS are this Friday, December 3rd! It's our opportunity to share the unique efforts of individuals and groups who are making a great difference for the planet with you! We shine the light on their work to celebrate their innovations and insights - and to give you ideas and practices to bring into your own lives and communities. It promises to be an enlightening and exciting evening!

COP26 News, Doughnut Economics & LE Blog
EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS FROM COP26

At the United Nations Climate Conference, COP26, the US and the EU have announced a global partnership to cut emissions of the greenhouse gas methane by 2030. More than 100 countries have signed up to the initiative. One leading source of methane is from animal agriculture, in particular cattle and dairy cows. This was the first-ever COP decision to explicitly target action against fossil fuels, calling for a “phasedown of unabated coal” and “phase-out” of “inefficient” fossil-fuel subsidies.

UN Climate Change Executive Secretary, Patricia Espinosa, outlined four key achievements made at COP26 including that "adaptation to the impacts of climate change is now deemed to be equally important as reducing emissions."
CEWG Book Discussion: Doughnut Economics

Please join the Leaders in Energy Circular Economy Working Group (CEWG) for a discussion of the book: Doughnut Economics: 7 Ways to think Like a 21st Century Economist by Kate Raworth on December 8th, from 6-8 pm.

The Doughnut is a 21st century approach to creating a world in which we can all thrive within the means of the planet. We will review the text and discuss how the ideas presented in the book can be applied to short-term and long-term goals of the Washington, DC region. Sign up here.
