Cheer
With our largest team in Bishop Kelly’s history, our season has been off to a great start! Starting off with camp, two of our seniors were selected to be on the UCA’s All-American team. Additionally, the team won 1st & 2nd place in a few camp divisions. While cheering our boys on to victories, the season has been a great success with our back-to-school BBQ performance as well as our home-opener performance.

As the team prepares for the basketball season to start, they also have been well into preparing for their competition season. This year the competition team will perform in all four categories as well it will be the largest, we have had compete thus far. We are anticipating great success in all of our categories and pushing towards a district banner.
Cross Country
The Bishop Kelly Cross Country Running Knights are enjoying another wonderful season. The season began Aug 7th with our Annual XC Campout and Midnight Madness Run. When everyone returned from their summer breaks, we kicked off the official season with 103 athletes, and only lost a few due to injury and other commitments. Our high numbers again made BKXC one of the top 3 largest teams in the entire state of Idaho.

After surviving a 3 day camp in McCall and the black & gold intersquad time trial, we returned home to host another incredible Bandanna Jimmy Driscoll Invite, with 22 teams in attendance. The team then started an exceptionally successful season, with trips to the Caldwell Twilight Invitational - varsity boys annexed a superb runner-up placing, varsity girls placed 4th, only to 5A teams, JV boys finished in the runner-up spot, and the JV girls were crowned race champions! Onto the Middleton Twilight, where our varsity boys team claimed a runner up position after a very determined, spirited, confident and well executed effort. Varsity girls had by far their best team performance of the season, to finish in 3rd place. JV girls ran their hearts out to place 3rd and a super gutsy effort by our JV boys saw them claim 3rd, to only 5A teams. The always fun and exciting centipede meet at Kleiner park, saw our JV teams perform superbly to come home with some excellent individual places. This past Saturday saw the Knights do battle with some of the best athletes from around the country, as over 4000 athletes from 149 schools from 9 different states took part in the prestigious Bob Firman Invitational. Knights were super competitive in top class opposition and walked away with many personal bests and hugely impressive performances. Medals were on display for the top 20 in each event and our Knights walked away with multiple medals for their efforts.

Knights are back in action this Thursday at the highly popular and competitive Gary Ward Invitational hosted by Vallivue High School and run at Lakeview Park, Nampa!
Dance
Kelly Gold Dance Team is off the a great start this season. We have grown our team to 17 talented, dedicated, wonderful dancers. Kelly Gold has been working very hard on choreography before competition season this winter. We are excited to announce our team will be competing in all four dance team categories, as well as 3 soloists this year. When we’re not learning choreography, and cleaning competition routines, we are rallying for our school football team. Keep an eye out for us on the sidelines and out on the field at halftime for our next two home games.

“Stay Golden!”

Girls Golf
The Girls’ Golf Team has had tremendous success this season heading into JV and Varsity Districts this week. With a team of 16 athletes, we have gotten to play 2 JV teams and a Varsity team this season. All are undefeated in league play.

Our JV 1 Team has played in two Varsity, 18 hole Invitationals as well as JV events beating every 4A Varsity SIC District Team in both tournaments and several 5A Varsity teams. They have done amazingly well and go into JV Districts heavily favored to win.

Our JV 2 team has played fantastic as well this season winning every match they played against the other JV league teams in our District. The only second place they took all season was to our own JV 1 team in the Emmett Tournament so we consider that a double win. They wrapped up their season on September 22.

Our Varsity team has set new school records twice this season posting the lowest team scores in school history only to turn around 3 weeks later and beat that all time low score by 11 strokes recording another new all time lowest team score! They have won all league play, the Jack Jones Invitational, the Madison Invitational and the Jerome Invitational along with many individual medals and medalist titles this season against 4A and 5A opponents. Their District Tournament is Wednesday, September 28th to go to State.

Our coaching staff is extremely proud of this group of 16 girls who have worked hard, achieved goals and improved together this season! They have been a delight to Coach and will have an exciting District Tournament week to come!
Boys Golf
It’s been a great first fall season for boys golf in 2022. Some highlights of the season have been: Starting the season shooting 302 in Caldwell, strong second place finishes at Lakeview in the Tony Villanueva Bishop Kelly Invitational and a Timberstone in the Jack Jones Invitational shooting 308 and 302. Victories in the Madison Invitational, Mike McCready Rocky Invitational at Jug Mountain Ranch, and the Jerome Invitational shooting 311, 318, and 299. Our JV team has been playing fantastic all season winning the JV district Championship with a score of 314 at Ridgecrest. We are looking forward to qualifying for varsity State September 28th at Lakeview golf club!
Hockey
The hockey season is off and running under the wonderful leadership from head coach Lee Svangstu. Team consists of 11 BK Knights and 2 players from Cole Valley Christian School. Knights have done extremely well to date, playing two games against Mountain View and Boise High School and representing themselves and school with distinction.
Mountain Biking
The BK Mountain Bike Team had a wonderful weekend racing at Jug Mountain Ranch this past weekend!! We achieved personal goals and put a handful of teammates on the podium in several categories including Maggie Scanlan (3rd - JV1), Ollie Welcker (3rd - Varsity) and Ben Boroff (4th - Varsity).

We've been practicing twice per week since June and started our race season at the end of August. Since August, we have been camping, traveling and racing together across the state including venues at Grand Targhee, Brundage, Soldier Mountain and Jug Mountain. Our season concludes at the high school mountain bike state championship on Saturday October 8th at Bogus Basin. Please join us at the Bogus State Championship, check out the fun and cheer our team to success!

We have 36 teammates riding on the team with 20 students competing at the races. We welcome 6th-12th grade students and all ability levels to join our team. Please visit our BK Athletics site for more information and reach out if you'd like to ride with us.

We want to especially thank our volunteers, parents and coaches that give us the support to make Bishop Kelly Mountain Biking a success.

Coach Shannon Boroff & Coach Matt Davis

Rodeo
Did you know that Bishop Kelly has the largest Rodeo Team in the area? Last year we sent four students onto State and two on to Nationals. Isabella Manning graduated in the spring and is now competing at Texas Tech University. She competed in Reined Cow Horse and went on to place 13th in the country at Nationals.

Ava Manning, a junior this year, competed at State in Cutting. Wyatt Beckley, a junior this year, competed at State in Cutting, as well as Rifle. Anneliese McCurry, a junior this year, competed at State in Barrel Racing and went on to Nationals. She placed eighth in the country.

The Rodeo season goes all year. The State competition is in June, and Nationals are in July.
Boys Soccer
After the first state championship in 25 years last year and graduating 13 seniors, the Varsity team has gone through some growing pains but has been successful overall. With a 5-2-2 conference record, we currently sit in 2nd place behind undefeated Caldwell. Junior Andrew Nguyen has led the team with 8 goals and 7 assists, Senior Colton Crawford (who missed two weeks due to injury) has 7 goals, and Sophomore goalkeeper, Justin McGrew has averaged less than 1 goal against per game. We look forward to meeting Caldwell again in the district tournament for a chance to go to State. The JV team has also had a great season and currently sits in 2nd place in the conference.
Girls Soccer
The girl's soccer program is having a great season. Both the JV and Varsity teams are undefeated in league with 3 games left. Our JV team has outscored their opponents 70 to 3 and the varsity team has outscored opponents 57 to 10 with 16 different players scoring goals. The varsity team just played a #1 state ranked Boise High team Saturday and it was an exciting 2-1 game until the last 12 minutes and the girl's ended up losing 3-1. Definitely the most exciting game of the year. Celebrating our seniors this Thursday at senior night where we get to honor 10 seniors that have given so much to the program over the last 4 years.
Speech and Debate
Your team launched the 2022-23 season with an early season tournament at Wood River HS in Hailey. A small contingent of debaters represented BK at the inaugural Coolidge Cup Challenge. Lucy Glynn and Ryan Buckner emerged from the competition earning all-expenses paid invitations to the national competition this summer in Vermont. The season kicks off in earnest Oct.21 with our novice debaters competing for their first times at Borah. November 4-5 will see the entire team in action at the Canyon County Classic in Nampa. Spectators are welcome and your prayers and best wishes are greatly appreciated as we head into the new year.

Volleyball
Volleyball has just passed the halfway mark of the regular season and all teams have been growing and improving steadily. The Varsity team has been working hard and competed in a tournament the past two weekends in Idaho Falls & Boise in addition to their weekly conference matches. They are currently 3rd in the conference with a record of 4-3. The JV team has a record of 5-2 and had a good showing at the annual Lyle Petty Tournament a few weeks ago. The Sophomore team is currently undefeated and also participated in a tournament at Capital two weeks ago.
