A MESSAGE FROM EDUARDO GONZALEZ

Dear brothers and sisters,

We rejoice with our people for the good news of President Biden's decision of eliminating Cuba's designation as a state sponsor of terrorism, a situation that had only brought hardship to our fellow citizens and a deterioration in many areas of our national life. We are deeply aware that none of this would have been a reality today without the actions or support of our brothers and sisters in the United States and in many other countries around the world. Many either wrote letters or simply came to Cuba to fellowship with friends or partner institutions and had advocated for this, as well as for lifting of Embargo. Because of that, we would love to express our deepest gratitude to all of you who have always stood by us. Thanks be to God for each of you, your solidarity, and your continuing support In His Name.

Rev. Eduardo González Pastor

Note: Please remember D.H. and Craig as they are on their way to Cuba today.

BUSINESS MEETING AND POTLUCK THIS SUNDAY

Our first 2025 business meeting is coming up and will provide 2 special and important reports concerning the current and future well-being of Northminster Church.

1.  Ending 2024 Financial Report - Connie Smallwood, our treasurer, will report the 2024 year-end giving and budget results and inform us of the church's current financial status and future projections for the new year.

2.  Annual State of the Church Report - Mark Windham, 2024 Chair of the Coordinating Council will highlight the church's 2024 ministry work and accomplishments. He will recommend issues and actions to be considered during planning for the new year.

The beginning of a new year is a time for evaluation of the status quo, planning, making goals, and dreaming for the Northminster of the future. The Coordinating Council has already begun this process and the Commissions have been asked to meet and do the same. We hope and pray that every member will want to participate in the support and ministry of Northminster Church. Please take time as you make personal plans and dreams for this new year to consider what you will contribute in service to the church and its ministry activities. There are many crucial needs, and therefore many opportunities for service available.  Please plan to attend the business meetings, participate, be informed, committed and supportive as we begin our work in this new year.

Your Coordinating Council,

Peggy Burn-Chair, Gail Blackman-Vice-Chair, Beth Mayfield-Secretary, Ann Aro, Mary Delancy, Kyle Gregory, Beth Ingram, J K Keen, Carol Ann Tubbs

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION AND INQUIRERS CLASS

We will hold a New Member Orientation and Inquirers Class on Sunday, February 2 following worship at 12:30pm. Lunch will be provided. Those of you who are "new" members, your presence is requested in order that you may learn more about what makes us Northminster Church. This class is also mandatory should you wish to serve on a commission or the coordinating council at some point in the future.

If you attend regularly, are thinking of becoming a member, or are just interested in Northminster, this class is open to everyone. There is a sign-up sheet on the hall table. We will need a count in order to have the lunch catered.

Please think about joining us and spread the word to others you may think of. Thank you!!

Pub Theology resumes TONIGHT, January 16th at 7pm at Fat Pelican.

Women's Retreat this Saturday, January 18 from 10 am - 3pm in the home of Ann Aro

Ministry Opportunities

COMMISSIONS: The mission of Northminster Church is carried out through the leadership of 6 commissions - Worship, Education and the Arts, Family Ministries, Missions, Hospitality, and Properties. If you want to help with the ministry of one of these commissions, please call the church office for more information.

GREETERS COMMITTEE: Greeters perform a crucial ministry to the church as they are the "first face and impression" of Northminster Church that visitors meet. If you enjoy meeting new people and helping them learn about our church this could be your ministry. This ministry also involves handing out orders of worship, taking attendance, and collecting attendance sheets for the church secretary. Please call the church office for more information.

AUDIO/VIDEO MINISTRY:  Currently we video every Sunday morning worship service and other special services and make them available on our YOUTUBE channel. Recently another one of our member videographers moved away leaving only 2 members working in this ministry. We try to have at least 4 people on a month's schedule, one for each Sunday, so that they don't have to miss in-person worship services frequently. If you are just a little tech savvy with smart phones and computers you can easily learn to work in this ministry.  If interested, please call the church office for more information, we really need more help!
