UPDATED Park Maitland COVID FAQ

Dear Parents,

The school has made the decision to remove student arrival temperature checks during morning carpool due to the significant decrease in COVID cases and positivity rate over the last eight weeks.

In addition, we found that temperature checks were not effective in reducing or identifying the unfortunate COVID cases the school has had due to the students being asymptomatic and having normal temperatures upon arrival. All other current health and safety measures of the schools' layered safety plan are remaining in place at this point.

The school will continue to monitor and evaluate the need and will reinstate the checks if the need is warranted.

Sincerely,

Michael Anna
Head of School

Conference Day/Student Holiday
November, 8th

Dear Grade 1-6 Parents,

As part of our schoolwide goal of continued and ongoing communication, we are excited to offer you the opportunity for an academic parent-teacher conference either virtually or in-person with the one academic teacher of your choice on November 8th. Time slots are available starting at 8:00 am through 3:30 pm (with some minor variations). Click this link: SignUpGenius to search for your grade’s parent conference sign up. Just enter my email, dspillmann@parkmaitland.org, and you will find the volunteer dashboard for Park Maitland. You may select the teacher and time that you prefer on this date. Slots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. The firm deadline for signing up will be November 1, 2021.

As always, if you prefer a more traditional conference where you can have additional teachers attend, these may be scheduled through Amy Jones (ajones@parkmaitland.com) at a time that works with those teachers’ schedules.

As a final reminder, this is a day off for students and a workday for teachers.

Conferences for K4 and K5 students will be scheduled for mid-November. Teachers will share details soon.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s educational experience at Park Maitland.
Teacher Tuesday
Park Maitland is such a wonderful school, and I am thrilled to be teaching here! This is my second year at Park Maitland, but my 10th year teaching Early Childhood Education. Science and Social Studies are my passion, and I love being able to create engaging lessons that bring my passion to life. The way the students light up when grasping a concept or performing an experiment is one of the best parts about my job!

I am enjoying all the fabulous events and traditions that I get to experience each week. Two of my favorites so far are the QU Wedding and Johnny Appleseed day! It is so much fun seeing the students and teachers dress up and participate in fun activities throughout the day! I look forward to experiencing more traditions at Park Maitland and bringing more exciting hands-on activities into the classroom!

When I am not at Park Maitland, I love spending time with my husband, Craig, and our two wonderful children, Wyatt and Reagan. When we aren’t at the baseball field cheering on Wyatt, we love watching football (Go Knights!), going to the beach, and visiting one of the many Orlando theme parks!
Please join the administration with Mr. John Driscoll and Ms. Ann Dennis to find out more about our 4th-6th grade math program, philosophy, structure, and expectations. The session will include a presentation from our math teachers and Q&A session.

Please reply to Ms. Davina Spillmann at dspillmann@parkmaitland.com to RSVP.
