Dear friends of Protected Harbor,
We pray everyone survived the latest storm that targeted our area with minimal damage to your families and homes. Everyone in southwest Florida was affected in one way or another. Unfortunately, our clients’ trauma was somewhat more acute. They felt the heightened stress but were less able to fully understand the dangers and collateral effects of a hurricane. We are grateful their cooperation as a family allowed everyone to gather and stay safe.
During the past month, it would have been easy to stumble, fall, ask “why”, and doubt anything would ever be the same. Thankfully we placed our hope in the Lord. As promised, He renewed our strength, allowed the weary to run, and lifted our spirits when we were down. Loretta Mottram noted, “The outpouring of support from our donors, parents, stakeholders, Board Members, church families, and the community have been amazing!”
Our selfless staff continues serving, processing donations, keeping our clients safe, and helping all return to a feeling of normalcy. We praise God that we have endured despite power outages, landscape damage, loss of food supplies, and the remnants of psychological trauma. We are joyfully preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
You may have seen the pictures and information on our website highlighting the generous and unexpected blessing we received. THRIVE UPSTATE, an organization based in Greenville, South Carolina, delivered a van full of supplies. The donations CEO Tyler Rex received from his employees were personally driven down by two of their members, Rick Blackburn and William Lance. The miracles we read about in the Bible still happen in 2022!
So many individuals donated monetarily, provided food, and supplies, and volunteered at our homes. Additionally, we were surprised with a gift of lodging for our clients to spend a few days in Orlando in early December.
Please consider enhancing their Orlando fun by sponsoring a day trip to Sea World. We need 23 tickets for clients and staff, a cost of $140 each. Another way to help is by sponsoring lunch that day at $25 per person. You may donate by mail or through our website www.Godsprotectedharbor.org
As always, we are grateful for your continued prayers and support. Your contributions of time, talent, and financial support help us grow and expand the range of services we provide to God’s Special People.
Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, and they will walk and not be faint.
