Village of Whitefish Bay Official Weekly Newsletter
Message from the Village President, Kevin Buckley

One of the tools the Village uses to attract and retain merchants on Silver Spring is through Downtown Incentive Grants.  Last week, our CDA awarded $18,825 to Fresh Coast Dance, which opened a few months ago.

Previously, the CDA awarded merchants like Moxie, Mathnasium, Burn Boot Camp and Trouble and Sons, granting almost $600k in the past five years.

There are a number of exciting projects in the pipeline, and I'm optimistic 2022 will be considered a great year for Silver Spring. Stay tuned! -kb

Mircochipping Update From MADACC:
Microchipping a pet is an often-misunderstood process and the benefit can seem small. Take it from your local animal control facility that microchipping your pet is critical in times when pet theft is on the rise or people decide to keep a found animal rather than look for an owner or turn in to the local “pound” which is required in all municipalities in Milwaukee County. You would be surprised how often it happens.
Having your shelter or vet’s office implant a microchip, and registering it in your own name, can be the single most important thing you do to ensure your pet finds you if they go missing or are stolen. While a collar or tag can be removed, a microchip is permanent. It is the best way to prove a pet is yours should ownership ever be an issue.

Microchips are NOT tracking devices! They act as an electronic contact card for the owner – which will provide a shelter or veterinarian with your address or phone number if your pet is brought there after being found. Know that you must make sure, once your chip is registered, that you call or log-in to the website for the chip manufacturer to ensure that the chip is absolutely registered, and that you will either allow your information to be given out or prefer that your chip company contact you directly instead.

MADACC can insert and register a microchip for any Milwaukee County resident for $25 during their public hours. Visit http://madacc.org/ for more information.
