Apple Brings Application Development Career Pathway Events to Louisiana Students
NEW ORLEANS, LA - Wednesday, Apple and ACT | The App Association, along with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, hosted “Coding a Career,” an event featuring local developers and entrepreneurs discussing how they turned their coding skills into a career, at Delgado Community College. The event featured informational sessions where students gained first-hand, practical advice on how to enter into the tech workforce.

“The Greater New Orleans area has a rich community of entrepreneurs and learners looking to break into the most cutting-edge careers like information technology and coding,” said Arlanda Williams, Vice-Chancellor for Workforce Development and Technical Education/Institutional Advancement for Delgado Community College. “Receiving that first-hand advice, such as how access to funding or where to find talent, is crucial to taking that first big step.”

In addition to networking and hearing tips from local professional developers, attendees received hands-on experience with Swift, a powerful programming language created by Apple and used by the pros to build today's most popular apps.

"Delgado is looking forward to our continued partnership with ACT to make certain that students in our region explore opportunities in coding," said Williams.

The group plans to bring the “Coding a Career” event to north Louisiana on March 1 at Bossier Parish Community College.

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) is committed to providing each student access to quality educational programs and lifelong learning— improving the lives and livelihoods of more than 150,000 students collectively.
