Well we have officially entered the final month of the muskie season. Seems hard to believe as it is nearly 70 degrees and the first week of November as I am writing this report. I hope you are able to get out this last month and put an absolute giant in the net. With days getting shorter, water temps slowly falling, and tullibees sliding up to spawn, it sets up a perfect storm to access some of the heaviest fish of the season. I hope you get out and get yours.

We have a lot of exciting upcoming events that will be taking place in 2023 that your BLC Board has been working hard to line up. First off will be our Annual Sportsman's Banquet which will again be held at the Cragun's Pavilion. This proved to be a great venue last year and we are excited to be able to work with them again this year. The date for the event has been set for March 25th, 2023 so mark your calendars now. More details and ticket information will be coming soon.

We are also excited to announce that we have officially set the dates and venue for the 2023 Gll Hamm. The event will be held August 22-25, 2023 on Lake Vermillion and will be based out of Vermillion Dam Lodge. Lake Vermillion is one of the most picturesque bodies of water in MN and offers world class muskie fishing as well as opportunities to chase multiple other species. Your BLC Board will be looking to make this an incredibly fun event with great food, comradery, games, and of course fishing. Mark your calendars now. This is an event you will not want to miss. We will be sending out more information regarding other lodging options shortly and encourage you to book early to stay at our host resort, Vermillion Dam Lodge.

This year's MHOTY race is officially over. We wrapped up the yearly race with our last two events on Rice Lake/Upper Mississippi and Roosevelt Lake respectively. Unfortunately, muskies decided to be muskies these last 2 events and no fish were boated. So this year's MHOTY winner is officially Will Walkoviak. Congratulations WIll and a very special thanks to Jay Young who worked to set up this year's MHOTY events. If you have ideas for bodies of water or other changes you would like to see made to any of our MHOTY events, please reach out to a board member or better yet, bring it up at a monthly meeting.

This month's speaker will be one of our current BLC sponsors, local member and extremely talented angler, Jace Loge. Jace spends as much time as possible on waters in the Bemidji area as well as western MN. He has also fished a variety of muskie tournaments and has put some absolute giants in the boat. He will be sharing his season's successes with us and has a ton of video footage. We are extremely happy to have Jace as a sponsor and are excited to hear him share his experience. Definitely someone you do not want to miss and a great speaker to finish up our year. Hope to see you next Tuesday at our monthly meeting.

November 8th Meeting - Guest Speaker - Jace Loge - 7pm

Jace Loge will be joining us for November's meeting. Jace is co-owner of one of our valued chapter sponsors, Waste Partners. We were thrilled to have Waste Partner's join up with us earlier this year when they provided financial assistance to help fund the Youth Corner at our annual banquet. We look forward to this continued relationship with this family owned business.

Jace is a die hard muskie fisherman who has had a phenomenal 2022 season on a variety of northern and western Minnesota waters. We hope you'll join us at this month's meeting as he shares some of his secrets to success!

Meetings are open to the public and FREE to attend! Chance to win various prizes from lures or maybe a rod in our meeting raffles. Come to hear and share fish stories and more. One random door prize drawing for those in attendance. Bring your friends!

The date for the 19th Annual Sportsman's Banquet has been set! Reserve Saturday, March 25th on your calendar for this great event. We sold out this past year. So you'll want to jump on getting your tickets when they become available sometime after the first of the year.

Chapter Challunge

As winners of the 2022 Gil Hamm, the BLC is responsible for selecting the destination and hosting the event for 2023 and we will be heading to Lake Vermilion out of Vermilion Dam Lodge. About a decade ago, the BLC helped the Star of the North Chapter host the Gil Hamm at this same location. And people are still talking about that as the best Gil Hamm event they have ever attended. So the bar has been set high and we are ready for that challenge!

2022 BLC Muskie Hunter of the Year

Congrats to Will Walkoviak on winning the 2022 BLC Muskie Hunter of the Year honors! Will caught the largest fish during our outings this year during our second outing of the year on Lake Alexander. This helped him secure top honors in a tight race that was still up for grabs to the very end. Congrats to all that were able to catch fish and thank you to all that participated in our 2022 outings. We will be doing it again in 2023 and we hope that you'll join us at one or all of them!

BLC Youth Sponsorship

Our 2021-2022 newly created, Business Partnership Program announces the first stage of this ongoing effort to raise funds for our Youth Programs, Muskie Fisheries, and Muskie Research.

The first Partnership we are seeking is that of a PRESENTER PARTNER of our rapidly expanding YOUTH Program. With the increased cost of entry to Muskie Fishing, coupled with the fact that Muskie Fishing has grown 300% over the last decade, dictates that we do more to get Families involved in the sport.
