Offering for Heifer International

November 20

Once a year Highland receives an offering for Heifer International, an organization that believes that ending poverty begins with agriculture. They work in 21 countries around the world (including the US) to strengthen local economies and build secure livelihoods that guarantee a living income to local farmers.  All this begins with a seed investment of livestock or agriculture, followed by mentorship to help project participants build a business, and ultimately to gain access to supply chains and markets.  These families are able to earn a living income and continuously lift up their communities as they train the next generation of leaders.

Please consider a financial contribution to this organization, by leaving a check (noted "for Heifer") in the offering plate Sunday, November 20.

"Thanks-giving" Tree

Sometimes we get so caught up in all the preparations for Thanksgiving that we can forget to take a moment and think of what we are truly thankful for. To remind us of this thankfulness, we will provide a tree branch decorated with paper leaves on which people can write notes about things they are thankful for, or what they appreciate, in their lives.  Please take a paper leaf, or perhaps several leaves, and write down something you are thankful for and then hang the leaves on the branches of the tree. The result is an autumnal decoration that also serves as a reminder to practice gratitude.

Stewardship Sunday

November 13, 2022

Fall is a time of harvest and thankfulness. We also pause to consider what we can devote to God's mission in the world with our time, talents and resources. You should have received a Stewardship letter and 2023 Stewardship card by this time. Please fill out the card and return it to Highland either by mail or by leaving it in the offering plate on or before November 13. For more information contact Jack Bagent.
