Wood Haven Technology Park will receive grant from the Virginia Business Ready Sites Program

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced $90 million in grants for the development of 21 industrial sites across the state, helping localities get shovel-ready for big economic development projects.


The Wood Haven Technology Park, located in Roanoke County, will receive $504,149 from the Virginia Business Ready Sites Program (VBRSP), which is a discretionary fund run by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP).



The VEDP’s program’s goal is to identify, assess and improve the readiness of industrial sites with at least 100 contiguous, developable acres, or 50 acres in the western part of the state. Read more

Sunscape Apartments receives four Star Awards

Congratulations to Roanoke County's Sunscape Apartments! The community received FOUR Star Awards at the VAMA Roanoke Lynchburg’s Annual Star Awards in December, which included Best Model Apartment, Best Landscaping and Curb Appeal, Maintenance Tech of the Year - Grayson Poterfield, and Community of the Year - Built Before 2010.

Career Quest Registration Now Open

It's time to plan for the quest! Career Quest Spring 2023 registration is open!

The Greater Roanoke Workforce Development Board plans to expose 10th grade students across the Roanoke Valley, New River Valley, and Alleghany Highlands to various career industries to spark their career interests. We are asking local businesses to educate students on Apprenticeship opportunities, Career and Technical Education, On the Job Training, tuition reimbursement, open positions or any other resources students have access to through your company. Please provide a relevant hands-on and age appropriate activity to showcase your industry to the students. Each business will receive a 10x10 booth with two tables, if additional space is needed, please consider becoming a sponsor. For the activity, we can certainly help with ideas! Please include details and sizes of the equipment or vehicles that will be in attendance. Balls, frisbees or other items that can be thrown may cause a distraction for students and vendors.

Roanoke County Business Partners Show

HCA Virginia Health System and its affiliate, Galen College of Nursing, announced a second Virginia Galen campus will open in Roanoke in 2023. As a single-purpose nursing college with a mission to increase access to quality nursing education, Galen will bring an additional educational option in Roanoke to help address Virginia’s nursing workforce needs.
