This year we will read the story of Christmas again, but perhaps we will see more than just the sweetness of a baby born in a manger. This year the verses of holy scripture will remind us that Jesus was born in an occupied land, that his parents fled from their country to Egypt without documentation, that wealthy men were led to him and brought gifts - sharing from their abundance. We will see faces and situations in those ancient words that resonate more clearly and vividly because we have taken the risk to welcome the stranger.
The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.
(John 1:14 The Message)
Truly God is with Us! Blessing be upon you as you make room in your hearts for the Christ Child in this season of light.
