‘People want views’: Developer proposes 12-story condo building across from Wholey’s market in the Strip District


Another big residential project could be headed for the Strip District.


Developer Francois Bitz is proposing a 12-story condominium building at 1700 Penn Ave., now the location of a Helltown Brewing taproom.

New Dollar Tree location in the works for Forward Avenue in Squirrel Hill


A flagship dollar store brand of a Fortune 500 company is on the agenda of the Pittsburgh Zoning Board of Adjustments, working to set up shop in two Forward Avenue addresses in Squirrel Hill.


The company is Dollar Tree, the combined retail giant that includes Dollar Tree itself and Family Dollar to total more than 16,000 stores throughout the United States.

Aldi is poised to expand again in Pittsburgh.


After the limited-assortment grocer opened a new store in Lawrenceville last week, where it took the place of a long-operating Shop 'n Save, Aldi is on the agenda for a hearing before the Pittsburgh Zoning Board of Adjustment on Jan. 9 to establish a new store at 2515 Banksville Road, a busy commercial corridor on the western edge of the city.
