For four weeks in June and July, the ICAA's headquarters in New York City welcomes twenty students and professionals from across the country for the Summer Studio in Classical Architecture. The Summer Studio incorporates lectures, field drawing, site visits, hand drafting, and watercolor rendering in an intensive program that instructs attendees in the principles and applications of classical architecture, and culminates in a design project for a new classical building.

In a video overview of this year’s Summer Studio, which took place from June 12th to July 8th, participants hailing from universities and firms across the country share their experiences, which brought them from the classroom to the offices of classical architectural firms, and of course to the neighborhoods, parks, and cultural institutions of New York City, as part of a fully immersive program that stands without parallel.

Kimberly Driessen-Greitzer, a participant in the ICAA's travel program "A Grand Tour of Sicily" in Spring of 2023, provides this remembrance of an unforgettable experience. The tour, arranged by Classical Excursions, brought travelers to architectural and design treasures of Sicily, including everything from exclusive receptions at private villas and palazzos to tours of magnificent ancient Greek temples, on a journey that extended from Palermo to Noto and all points in between.

Coinciding with the re-publication of the long-out-of-print Lutyens Memorial Volumes, the ICAA is pleased to present this lecture delivered by Clive Aslet, which was filmed in London. Here, Clive provides a thorough exploration of Edwin Lutyens' longstanding and fruitful relationship with the publication Country Life, and with its founder Edward Hudson, who was also a patron of the architect.

Clive Aslet is an award-winning architectural historian and journalist, acknowledged as a leading authority on Britain and its way of life. He has published around twenty non-fiction titles, including The Last Country Houses and The American Country House. Clive was editor of the magazine Country Life for 13 years and continues to contribute to newspapers and magazines, as well as broadcasting on radio and television.

The first volume of the series, The Architecture of Sir Edwin Lutyens: The Country Houses is currently available for purchase on the ICAA website.

On May 31, 2023, the ICAA celebrated the release of the first volume of the ICAA's republication of the acclaimed Lutyens Memorial Volumes with a lecture delivered by David Frazer Lewis, Associate Professor of Architectural History at the University of Oxford. His talk explores the seldom-told story of the genesis of the Memorial Volumes, amidst the austerity, rationing, and ascendant modernism of postwar Britain. The presentation, held in partnership with Lutyens Trust America, traces the Volumes' influence in Britain and the United States through the course of the twentieth century, and the way that their reprinting in the 1980s and now in the 2020s, has allowed Lutyens to remain an inspiration to many architects today.
