During the Regulatory and Neighborhood Affairs (RNA) Committee Tuesday, September 13, 2002, the City Legal Department presented an overview on deed restriction enforcement; and Houston Public Works and the Planning Department presented on deed restrictions enforcement and permitting.

The City of Houston has been granted limited authority to enforce deed restrictions. Take some time to view the presentation to learn more about enforcement in your neighborhood.

HOUSTON - This acquisition originates from Fire Chief Sam Peña’s, health and safety initiative. “The Health and Safety of Houston Firefighters is of utmost importance and has been a strategic focus of our administration for the last five years. Significant investments have been made to provide our personnel with training safety, and cancer prevention equipment. With the purchase of these apparatus, firefighters will have the tools to perform mass decontamination and reduce cancer risk on emergency scenes more efficiently” said Fire Chief Sam Peña.

The units will be utilized to transport the existing Decon Task Force trailers, which house all the necessary equipment for an incident involving, mass decontamination or technical decontamination. These units have the same capabilities as current HFD Emergency Support Units (ESU’s). The units are outfitted with an A.R.E. Camper Top with side compartments, to aid in storing cargo and ensuring a weather-resistant transport. The units also feature an Extenda-Bed EXT-1500. These heavy-duty slides are rated at 1500 lbs. and allows for 100% extension. The slides grant personnel the ability to safely access equipment, while maintaining full access of the unit.

Project Title: Lift Station Renewal and Replacement- Macgregor Way North #3, Wheeler, Gilpin, West Orem, Quail View, and Hillcroft Lift Stations

Project Number: R-000267-0160

Project Scope: The project provides for the rehabilitation of six wastewater lift stations.

Benefits: This program is needed for reliable and efficient collection of wastewater throughout the City. It protects public health and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.

Details: This project is anticipated to have minimal impact on the project area. Work will primarily be done on-site behind a fenced area for each lift station.

Anticipated construction start: September 29, 2022

Residents in Brays Oaks will see much needed improvements to Fairmont St. soon. Vice Mayor Pro-Tem has identified this street as needing immediate repair and Houston Public Works has issued a Work Authorization for the asphalt overlay of Fairmont Street from Bob White to Fonmeadow. Vice Mayor Pro Tem Castex-Tatum has worked diligently with Houston Public Works Transportation and Drainage Operations for the drainage improvements and outfall repair in the vicinity of 15015 Fondren Rd. The Notice to Proceed for construction is scheduled to commence Monday, October 10, 2022, and is expected to be completed around December 30, 2022. The contractor is DL Glover, Inc.

Residents in Fort Bend Houston have reported concerns in this area and should see improvements immediately once work is complete.

The Hillcroft Avenue and Court Road Extension is ready for bidding. The project consist of the construction of street pavement, curbs, sidewalks, storm sewers and ditches, a detention pond, two bridges and street lighting. The advertisement dates are September 2- 9, 2022. The scheduled bid date is September 22, 2022.

There will be 118, 15 gallon trees planted in Glenshire Park for the Carbon Tree Planting Project, this November. The value that trees bring to a community cannot be overstated. Trees support the environment by removing harmful pollutants from the air, providing food and shelter for a variety of birds and animals, storing carbon and creating oxygen, and removing harmful pollutants from the air, by soaking up the sun’s ray.

Sidewalks are critically important for pedestrian safety throughout our community. City Council has approved over $3 million of sidewalk repair throughout our city. Many of those repairs included much needed repairs in District K. We are happy to see the improved sidewalks at:
