Happy Catholic Schools Week!

Thank you to all those individuals who believe in the mission of St. Francis DeSales High School and support it every day.

Each day in our St. Francis DeSales High School community we witness shining examples of those answering the call of our patron saint, St. Francis de Sales, to BE WHO YOU ARE AND BE THAT WELL. These special people honor God’s love for the world, sharing their unique personalities, talents, and interests, by simply being who they were created to be. Prior to Christmas we asked students and faculty to help us identify some of the special members of our community that are living out the directive of our patron saint. Click here to see a few of the Stallions we surprised with this recognition.

Stallions in the Spotlight

As a part of the St. Francis de Sales Feast Day celebrations last week, we played Kahoot during lunch periods, with basic trivia about St. Francis de Sales. Pictured are some of the winners who competed and received $5 cash prizes.

The Art Department is proud to announce that our students received four Silver Keys and two Honorable Mentions in the Scholastics Regional Art Show. The artwork of our Silver Key winners will be on display at the Canzani Center on the CCAD campus from February 11th until March 3rd. Pictured are the Silver Key pieces.

Scheduling for the 2023-2024 School Year

School counselors are meeting with students individually throughout the next several weeks to help them in the process of selecting their courses for the 2023-2024 school year. During these individual meetings, students will receive a course selection worksheet which will indicate their recommendations for core courses (Math, Science, English, Social Studies) and select advanced electives. They will also receive a graduation requirement worksheet showing credits earned/in progress. When this information comes home, we ask that you review your student’s course recommendations as well as assist them in selecting elective and alternate courses. If you have any questions or concerns about placement recommendations, please reach out to your student’s current teacher in that subject area. Once completed, we ask that you sign off on their course selection worksheet. These should be returned to the student’s Homeroom Teacher promptly. The table below outlines our timeline for this process.

Spiritual Reflection

In honor of St. John Bosco's feast day today, the relics of St. John Bosco, St. Francis DeSales and St. Dominic Savio are on display in the SFD Chapel. Thank you to the Catholic Museum of Art and History for loaning the relics to our school. A special thanks to Theology teacher Mr. Kohler for coordinating this for our students and staff.

Eternal and ever-loving, you gave to St. John Bosco a generous and compassionate heart that reached out to the young; hear our humble prayers and help us to reach out to others in their need, we make these prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
