March Meeting Summary

Meeting Summary

  • **ROBBERY TREND** Between February 20, 2025, and February 28, 2025, the district experienced a street robbery trend. Groups of teens were targeting individuals during early morning (1am-430am) for cash and cell phones. It is believed they committed (7) robberies. In some cases, the responsible individuals implied they had a handgun; however, none were ever seen.  No victims suffered any serious injury or required hospitalization. Several groups of teens were arrested and released to parents during the trend. BPD increased patrols in the affected areas. Overtime expenditure was also paid to extend patrols. CVCBD restricted Allied Security patrols to the concentrated robbery area. Allied hours of operation were also adjusted to meet the time incidents were occurring. Social media sites were used to alert the public to the trend. Information was shared between BPD, CVCBD and Bank of America during the trend to protect the district. The last incident occurred on February 28, 2025.

  • There was a discussion surrounding the issue of under-reporting of crime in the district and some of the potential causes. The conversation expanded into the issue of over vs under policing generally. It was agreed that there are many sociological reasons for under-reporting crime. With respect to policing, enforcement patterns often shift with public sentiment.

If you haven’t seen them about and about already, be sure to look for our new Safety Ambassador Patrol!

They operate seven days a week, from 7:00pm-3:00am.

The District’s Safety Ambassador Patrol are trained in the latest techniques including the following:

- Reporting instances of unsafe activity

- The evaluation and application of crime trend information

- Certified to administer CPR

Look for the patrol vehicles with the signs pictured above should you need them!

If you witness a crime or suspicious activity, don’t hesitate—call 911 immediately. Reporting crimes helps keep our neighborhood safe and allows law enforcement to respond quickly. If you have non-emergency concerns, consider contacting your local precinct for assistance. Together, we can foster a safer, more secure community!
