OLETHA DEVANE'S EXHIBIT EARNS TOP TEN

Bmore Art Magazine placed Oletha’s recent exhibit at UMBC as one of the Baltimore’s best art exhibits of 2022. Spectrum of Light and Spirit (which ran from September 22 through December 17, 2022) traced Oletha’s extensive career, from her early paintings and works on paper to video, beaded assemblages, and interactive sculpture. Oletha’s prominence has grown significantly in the past few years with a BMA exhibit and acquisition as well as a recent public art commission at Lexington Market.

Join us on Thursday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. for the next webinar, 1980s: An Era of Opportunity. Learn more and register here. If you missed the previous sessions, enjoy the recordings of the 1950s/1960s: Prosperity and Protest and the 1970s: Times of Transition.

GET CONNECTED WITH MCDONOGH CONNECT

McDonogh Connect serves as a directory and networking platform that helps retirees connect with each other and McDonogh alumni. For instructions on how to get started or download the app, click here. There is also a dedicated group within the platform just for retirees. It’s a great place to share information and updates. To join, select “Groups” from the menu on the left and choose “Retirees”. Contact Conor Johnston at cjohnston@mcdonogh.org with questions.

"DWELLING" AT THE TUTTLE GALLERY

For years, Katherine Dilworth has been working with her landscape photographs, nudging them to a place slightly more dreamlike or imagined. By incorporating images of fabrics and textures, she captures how a place felt, not just how it looked. Recently, she has pushed her images further, printing them on fabrics and textured papers and treating them more like patterns and cloth. Visit the Tuttle Gallery through Friday, February 17, and be transported to a place somewhere between dream and reality.

Dilworth's works have been shown in galleries throughout the U.S. and Europe as well as included in books on fiber art and photography. She also works as a visiting artist in schools through the nonprofit Arts for Learning Maryland, sharing fiber arts techniques with students and teachers in arts-integrated lessons. She will be working with Lower School art classes.
