Dear CCHEq Members,

As we conclude another year, we would like to take this opportunity to express gratitude to our extraordinary center members for their contributions to the quest to achieve health equity. The center's work focuses on health disparities in New York State through membership collaboration and equipping members with tools to conduct research on health equity and social justice. As a center mission, we embraced five priorities to expand the impact of this great center:

  1. Generating and sharing new knowledge.
  2. Training outstanding investigators, with emphasis on people from underrepresented groups.
  3. Educating students, trainees, faculty, and communities.
  4. Engaging with diverse communities in this work.
  5. Applying knowledge to maximize its impact on practice and policy.

There has been significant momentum surrounding these foci, from launching an NIH grant writing development program, establishing a heath equity research fellowship funded by HRSA, obtaining a series of research grants to pursue multidisciplinary research, engaging community organizations and students in the process of scientific investigation, and hosting a series of social justice and health equity-focused colloquia. We have brought together members committed to health equity across three Cornell University campuses and communities across the state.

On behalf of the Cornell Center for Health Equity, we wish you a bountiful holiday season and a new year of stimulating exploration.

Sincerely,
Co-Directors, Cornell Center for Health Equity
