Shepherd I.S.D. Spotlight

SISD would like to congratulate the following for being awarded the 'November Anchor Award'

Anne Gallmeier- teacher (not pictured)
"She always goes beyond her duties to help every student, even those who are not in her class. She is volunteering to help me with FASFA so students will receive more help applying. She is always positive and refuses to let a student slip between the cracks."

Lindsey Barrow- para
"She is always willing to help out, goes out of her way to make sure everyone is taken care of. Always there for the kids."

Karen Daniels- auxiliary staff
"Karen our school custodian at the primary does an excellent job keeping our rooms clean. We always wants what is best for the teachers and our students. She never complains and always goes above and beyond. You can ask her to do something even not on her job list and she will do it. We appreciate her."

Staff & Students across the District
SISD would like to wish the band students luck as they compete in All-Region contest next week! 20 high school students and 27 middle school students are competing against other students in the region for spots in a high-performing ensemble. High schoolers have an opportunity to advance to state.
This year, with about 45% of band students participating, Shepherd is setting a 5 year record for number of students competing in this event.
Results will be available on Tuesday for high school, and Wednesday for middle school. Good luck to everyone in the competition!

Mrs. Swiech's Hospitality and Tourism students recently had the opportunities to explore a local food truck and ask the owner questions about owning and operating the business. In the upcoming weeks these students will research and create their own Food Truck.

James Carlton has been in school transportation for twenty years. He started out as a mechanic helper at Huffman ISD in 1999 then with Harris County Pct 4 Road and Bridge and most recently spent that last 13 years with Tomball ISD . Mr. Carlton is from Jacinto City Texas in a mechanics household and learned the trade from his dad. Mr. Carlton grew up as a transportation kid, going on trips with his dad to football games and various other activities. He currently resides in Willis, Texas with his wife of 14 years and their 16 year old daughter. They have five children, three girls and two boys ages 16 to 28 and thirteen grandchildren ages 2 to 12. He enjoys being an amateur woodworker building tables and benches for family and friends.
Mr. Carlton considers it a privilege to be a part of this great industry and it is an honor to become part of the Shepherd ISD Team, He looks forward to working with the Shepherd ISD Transportation department and making it the best in the area.

Please Welcome Mr. James Carlton as the new Shepherd ISD Transportation Coordinator. We are excited to have him join our team.

Mr. Carlton says,"I bleed school bus yellow as they say, I love kids, I love being a part of the School Transportation Industry and I love the people I work with."
SISD is thankful for the opportunity to receive brand new instructional furniture for our students and teachers from our Board.
THANK YOU!

JT has been with Shepherd ISD for many years and anyone that knows him, knows that all you have to do is ask and he will do it. JT works with pride as he is responsible for handling the tough jobs that come along with being in school maintenance. Thank you JT for always being available when needed and all you do for SMS.

Upcoming Events
Shepherd ISD families and community,
You may have seen some changes happening in the Shepherd Middle School parking lot since this past summer. After assessing traffic along S. Byrd we have found that changing the traffic flow during arrival and dismissal will better serve the safety of our students, staff and community.
Effective January 1, 2022 the traffic pattern at Shepherd Middle School will be as indicated in the diagram below.
