September 2022

General Updates:

NHED i4see ESOL Roster

The statewide ESOL roster maintained within the NHED i4see database has been updated to reflect the 2022-23 school year. The status for all active EL students has also been updated based on 2022 ACCESS scores.

Remember students who moved to a new school may not appear in the correct school until after the October Beginning of Year (BOY) enrollment report is certified by your district. EL data stewards can manually add and delete students in the ESOL roster anytime. Districts or schools with high numbers of EL students may choose to wait until after the BOY updates to make final roster updates.

There are Technical Assistance (TA) Resources available to EL data stewards:

Revised Sample Parent Notices

NHED has updated the following parent notices as a form of Technical Assistance:

  • Initial Eligibility Determination (for eligible students)
  • Initial Eligibility Determination (for non-eligible students); and
  • Annual Fall Notice of EL Services

The letters meet the compliance requirements set under under ESEA §1112(e)(3) and (e)(4), 20 USC 6312 (2015). The annual fall notice must be provided to the parents of all EL students within 30 calendar days at the beginning of the school year. An initial eligibility notice must be provided for all newly enrolled students within 30 calendar days at the beginning of the school year or 14 calendar days after the start of the school year.
