Town Hall Meeting This Sunday!

The UUCH Board will be hosting an informational Town Hall this Sunday, May 28th, after the Sunday service in the sanctuary. The purpose of this Town Hall will be to inform the congregation about the issue with the rotten sanctuary roof beams, the plans to repair the beams, and how this repair will be financed.

This Town Hall meeting is meant to inform the congregation, and answer any questions prior to the congregational meeting on June 11th where the congregation will vote to approve the repair plan and the financing for the repairs.

Please join us this Sunday after the service to learn more about this issue and to get your questions answered!

Children and Youth Education News

Preschool-5th Grade & 6th-12th Grade

This week as we continue celebrating May’s theme of Creativity, we acknowledge and honor the special ways in which music touches our lives. Music has the ability to transcend language, culture, time, distance, and so much more. We are bestowed with music’s unique skill to open our minds and hearts which is something we always strive for at UUCH.

Teens

Rocket City Pride is hosting an inclusive prom for teens on June 3rd from 4PM-7PM at Campus 805 (cafeteria). Tickets are available online here. Please do not let price be an issue. See Rev. Jaimie if you need help with tickets.

Parents

In order to deliver the wonderful CYRE program that your children deserve, we need a few minutes of your time to collect some information. If you could register your child by following this link, we would greatly appreciate it.

Eastern KY Sunday “Load Up!”

The time has come! Please help after the church service Sunday to load up the books headed for Eastern Kentucky.

Bravo to the UU folks have gathered and sorted books, and then waited patiently for the libraries to be repaired enough to deliver them from flood damage. On May 31st the Whitesburg Public librarian, Alita Vogel, and helpers unload the books.

Thanks so much!

Welcome Newest UUCH Members!

On Sunday, May 21st, UUCH welcomed new members into covenant during a brief ceremony. The new members are pictured above as follows (left to right):

Back (standing): Rusty Johnson, Rev. Jaimie Dingus, Daniel Barr

Front (seated): Wade Little, Sandy Moore, Tamarra Matthews Johnson

We appreciate the commitment these new members have made to our church community with their gifts of time, financial support, and talents. We look forward to working together to fulfill the mission of this church.

The UUCH covenant that our members make with each other is as follows:

We, as members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Huntsville, covenant to work together to create a supportive, affirming, sustaining community that inspires, and challenges each of us to become our best selves. To further our goal of creating such an intentional community, we promise each other to:

• Affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every member of our community, valuing our differences and supporting each other in a free and responsible search for truth and meaning;

• Listen to one another with the intent of understanding, and speak to one another with respect and kindness, so that all may be heard;

• Recognize that forming an intentional community may at times require us to place the needs of the community above our own needs;

• Foster caring relationships by assuming the best intent in others, disagreeing in love, and empowering one another to speak for ourselves;

• Affirm the work of the church to the best of our abilities, valuing the work of others, and supporting those who voluntarily accept leadership roles in the church;

• Promote an environment where all people feel safe, both physically and emotionally;

• Use the energy and support we thus create to bring our vision of justice, equity and compassion in human relations into our wider community, our nation, and our world.
