Administrator's Corner
January 30, 2023
Happy Monday!
We're in a good groove as we end the month of January. We have some important things coming up. Tomorrow there is a TJ Talk for parents on the fentanyl and vaping epidemic. See below details to register. The end of this week will end up with another fun First Friday celebration for our students (First Friday Schedule). There will be an honor roll assembly in February, so stay tuned for details. We have Spirit Week as well as Challenge Day (info below) for our juniors and seniors the week of February 13th ending with Jamaican Jam music and volleyball festival.
Spring Sports registration is open. You can register on the TJ Athletics website.
9th grade students will be pulled out of one of their electives Monday and Tuesday for vision and hearing screenings.
Building Procedures for all parents/guests:
We love having visitors and parents come to TJ and we want to ensure that we are doing everything we can to keep everyone safe and secure. Moving forward, when you come to TJ please continue to check in at the front door and wait in the vestibule area. The person with whom you have an appointment will meet you there and escort you to the appropriate room/office. Thank you for your help with this!
Lastly, with continued cold weather, please be sure to allow plenty of time to get to school on time and be sure your students have arranged transportation after school and for all after school events. Our attendance rates are better than most in the district! Let's keep it up, Spartans.
¡Feliz lunes!

TJ Parents,
TJHS is excited to announce that Thomas Jefferson High School will be providing CHALLENGE DAY to our Junior and Senior class. It will be February 13th, 14th, 15th, or 16th.
| |
|
February 13th: Juniors A-L
February 14th: Juniors M-Z
February 15th: Seniors A-L
February 16th: Seniors M-Z
Every Junior and Senior is asked to participate. Please click here to let us know if your student will be attending.
There is also a $20 participation fee to help offset the cost of the workshop which includes professional facilitators. Lunch will be provided. Please log into my school bucks for payment of fee.
What is Challenge Day?
Imagine a school where everyone feels safe, loved and celebrated. Imagine enemies finding common ground and making peace; friends healing past hurts and making amends; people igniting their passion for service and leadership; adults and youth working together to create a school where everyone is included and thrives. The program addresses issues such as self-esteem, bullying, oppression, violence, etc. It is a cultural building opportunity that creates change makers. This is Challenge Day.
If you are curious of what challenge day looks like you can YouTube it. It premiered on MTV, Chicken Soup for The Souls and OPRAH. Here is a great glimpse at what challenge day does for the community: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdwcJrDDhQ4
